Anyone got any tips and how to's for installing? what does everyone do to get the trunk floor flattened out? Did you mount the panel flange under or on top?
It seems if I grind a little off both sides of the flange it would fit real nice between the trunk pan ribs.
What about rubber cushion between the tank and trunk pan underside? is there supposed to be something in between? What about on the straps?

I think neatly applying a urethane seam sealer would be your best bet on that uneven surface.

I make some relief cuts and flatten down the ribs. I then install it with panel adhesive. Masking tape over the threaded holes so the panel adhesive doesn’t plug them.

I mount the ring on top of the trunk floor.

In lieu of flattening out the trunk floor ribs you could make spacers that fit between the ribs tack welded to the flange.
Another thing to consider is making the flange a bit wider so the left and right sides of the flange sit on the flat part the trunk rib.

I just taped off a area around where the ring was to go and piled on bondo. I also put some packaging tape on the top bottom of the ring where it meets the bondo. As it started to set up I trimmed around the outside of the ring so it would be the same perimeter. Worked great for me.

I mounted it on top after flattening out the trunk pan. I used 3M and Eastwood panel adhesive.

Well done. How did you flatten out the trunk floor?

Well done. How did you flatten out the trunk floor?

I cut relief cuts on the ribs and used a body hammer and dolly and beat them flat
