Chevy II update.....

Havent been on in awhile!!! Been busy workin on the car!

I was up till 3am christmas mornin sprayin it...but when I got up I ran out and "unwrapped" my car WOOHOO! Havent wasted anytime either...painted the firewall 3 weeks ago, wetsanded and wheeled that, put the freshly powder coated front subframe on and dropped in the big block, hope to have it back on 4 wheels in the next couple weeks...waitin on my axles to come in, than I gotta paint the door and fenders. I need to pick out my red uphostery too so I can get paint for the inside.

This is the BEST part of all, puttin it together for the last time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is absolutely an awesome ride. I LOVE it! I bought my dad a 66 2 dr sedan chevy II that we are getting started on. I think Black on Red is the ultimate combo. And a big block in a duece....You are definately going to have a killer ride. Check out my garage if you have in interest in a trade!!! Just kidding, but I love your car. Great Job.

You have a great looking car and you do real nice work. You give me some inspiration to get off my butt and get moving faster on my project. You are at almost the same point I am so if you get yours done before I get mine done it should tell me something. I hope your money holds out as long as your drive to get it done.

I keep telling myself that if I stop looking at my car trying to plan it all out worrying about if I do something I will want to redo and just start doing something everyday it will be done by mid summer. I don't know about every body else here but routing all of the wiring and plumbing can be done so many different directions and still work but not look the same has my commitment to doing things change on a daily basis right now. What is the time you plan on getting the car on the road?

It's just plain awesome to see the cars here and yours is worthy of all of the praise it will get.

I have a freind that builds one street rod per year and this year he is building a chevy II like yours. He doesn't like 20's he sticks to 17's and 18's for cars. He is doing a full round tube chassis with shock wave air ride on all four corners the only thing that bothers me is that he is starting with a rust free car.

Your car looks great and I hope you keep the pics coming as you have more progress.

No I Just do stuff for myself or good friends, I dont have the facilites to do great painting as you can see....but then again, I've yet to have a bad paint job come out of the garage?! Alot of people ask me to do work for em, but its just a pain when you dont have good place to do it...one of these days I will, sucks turnin down that extra $$$ though!

The engine started out as a new gen VI 454 block, and I left if at that to save some $$$ on the machine work, got alot of good stuff in it, should be right around 500 - 550hp...nothin too crazy! Should have it runnin again by next weekend, than I got a start buildin the rear seat, conslole and that kinda stuff so I can get the inside goin.

Seriously- last time I shot a car in the garage, everything got a coating of black, and the fumes didn't leave the house for a full day- and that was with another bay between me and the house. I'm thinking of trying an HLVP gun, if that would help.

Between me and my dad we've painted ALOT of cars in that garage!!! We have a bunch of covers and just cover everything up, and I keep the floor wet which keeps down the dirt and actually helps with some of the overspray staying down, open the side door, put the big fan in it and go to town LOL! I dont have the money to take it to a shop, and I prefer doin things myself....so sometimes ya just make do with what ya got. Never had a bad paint job come out of there yet!!

Using a HVLP gun certainly helps, and masking off the car inside and to the ground helps considerably!

But yes....my family got high from the fumes while opening presents!!
