How much would it cost to back-half my 71? I see S&W has frame rails for a coil-over setup. They are only $250.

How hard would it be? Anyone have experience?

you can narrow the factory frame and mini tub, keep the factory set up which is good, it's a 100 hours for us to mini tub and narrow

we narrowed and built new rails on 66 convert about a month ago.....pretty easy to do but we also had the floor out of the car!

I can buy the rails pre bent. I would just have to square them and weld them in, fabricate new wheel houses and do something with the gas tank. I'm not trying to fit a 33x16 slick in here. 345/30 18's are 14" wide on a 12" wheel and under 27" tall.

you'll probably only have to move them in 3 or 4in....should be fairly easy? Will the rails stay under that factory floor pan? if not that will require more cutting?

The page in the catolog from S&W says they are designed to follow the contour of the original floor and install with minimal cutting or modification. http://www.swracecars.com/pdf/CATpg19.PDF

Aftermarket rarely fits the trunk or floorpan without any modifications. Even if it says it does, plan some cutting anyway.

If they are 2x3 rails, they need to be stitch welded to the pan on the full length of the rail. If they are 2x4, they only need to be connected to the rear pinchweld.

art morrison makes really nice stuff.skip s&w stuff its crap.2x4 is best for a rear stub.if not going for all out traction.a 4-bar will work great.or 4 link for the traction.
