Just joined and wanted to say "Hi". I've been working on the El Camino about 5 years now... replacing nearly all suspension componets, building engine, building custom dash, replacing all wiring and a boatload of other things. Right now it's in paint and should be done end of Jan. I'll post some pics later.

Hello to you, guys! My name is Bill and I wandered over here from Team Chevelle...
(I had trouble getting my signature to show up.. hopefully it works in this post.)
I have a '72 SS that I bought from my Mom in '75. I had always had hope of owning a Porsche and bought my first one in 1982.... a '78 Black Targa. At that point, I went on a quest of trying to get the El Camino to handle better. I did KYB shocks, bigger sway bars, cut down Big Block springs (it had a 350) and 50 series tires. Some stuff worked better than others, but overall, it made a big improvement.
I'm now in the process of taking it up several more notches to a pretty nice ride. I'm now on my second Porsche - another Black Targa - and have been pulling lots of ideas off of it as I work.

Here are a few pictures...

Here's a shot of the dash I built and the B&M shifter mounted in the console...

And this is a Photoshop rendering of what I'm thinking I'm going end up with...
