Is anyone running the 98-02 F body oil pan in a OEM 68 Camaro subframe?
Also known as Chevy Perf Musclecar Oil Pan OEM PN 12628771.
Im still on the fence about LSA or LS7 570 but either way Ill need a pan since mine was trashed when rod let loose. If not mistaken it comes on both engines mentioned but not sure if it will fit without sitting too low as compared to either MILODON or MAST pan previously in car no longer available.

The Holley pan is probably your best bet...the F-body pan typically hangs down too low in most applications. In my build with the LSA I used the Cadillac LSA pan because it is very close to the F-body specs, doesn't hang down as low and has the oil cooler mounts cast into it. There is a very good write-up on this forum that gives specifications and details on each oil pan available for LS engines.

Too low? I don't think so....The Holley pan from I recall has the same depth....You must be thinking of the Muscle car pan. What I would be concerned about is the pan clearing the steering linkage. People have modified the pan, set the engine further back etc. Google "LS Oil Pan 69 Camaro" and lots will come up.

The muscle car pan is nothing like the F body pan. Muscle car pan hangs way too low. F body pan sump is too long. If running a stock subframe, I suggest the Holley 302-2 or 302-3, or mast pan, with the holley clamshell mounts.

IF memory serves a stock 4th-gen LS1 pan is not a direct fit into a stock subframe. Cutting and welding are required for clearance and there is a lack of oil control features.
From a performance aspect the ATS/Speedtech pan is very hard to beat. It has been in the Camaro since 2009 with zero issues. The only drawback is that a remote filter is required.
If a standard filter location is required the Canton pan is pretty nice https://www.cantonracingproducts.com/products/15-274-gm-ls1-and-ls6-rear-sump-road-race-pan-baffled.html The Camaro had a SBC version of the same pan for many years, also with good results.
The Holley pan will work fine for basic street driving but will likely be inadequate for road course due to the lack of oil control features (trap doors, etc.)

This thread was helpful when I was trying to solve my oil pan fitment issues...
