Fuel pump fuse gets hot

Has anyone had issues of the fuel pump fuse getting hot enough to melt the plastic off but not blowing it? Once it gets to a point the car will not run good like make it’s cutting down on the flow of current the fuse let’s pass if that’s possible but once I put new fuse in it run fine for a few hours of continuous run time then it’s time for a new fuse. I have changed all the grounds and the main wire to the fuel pump and took apart the fuse/relay box and recremped the connection. Any ideas

What are all the details? Wire size, fuse rating, what pump?

Maybe the fuses you have are not labeled or designed properly ?

Are you using an inline fuse holder? If so, what kind? Pictures?

Delphi in take pump with 12g wire running 30amp fuse not sure as to brand fuses and fuse/relay box is the typical cheep one that most people use when they redo a ls swap harness with like 4 fuses and 2 relay 30amp

Overheating of this type is typically caused by a poor connection.

Overheating of the fuse can often happen if the connections across the blades is poor and/or insufficient. If the female terminal has been overheated, damaged, etc. it will cause a high resistance and overheating. If the female terminal has insufficient grip length on the fuse blade there will then be insufficient area for power transfer to easily occur. It may be necessary to change the female terminals inside of the fuse panel/holder.
