Hello!

I installed 9,5 x 17 wheels with 255/45 at the rear of my 69' Camaro.

The distance between tire and inner wheel housing is approx. 1" (backspacing of the wheels with spacers is 5,5").

But if the car is in a bad position the tire scrub the inner wall (driver side more than passenger side).

I don't know why because in the normal stand there's a lot of space.

I think nothing was done at the rear suspension for the last 36 years=> Could this be the problem?

Are you running straight axle and have you a panhard rod fitted

I have the original setup:

Mono leafs, 8,2" 10 bolt

Does anybody use a panhard or something similar with leaf springs?

I only know this from the german Ford Capri and some other older European cars.

Nice to know something more!

yeah, if your pulling into a driveway or going over an uneven bump it will rub. Worn leaf bushings will make it worse. You can usually get away with less room towards the outer edge say 7/16" outer and 1 1/4" inner. Maybe a thicker spacer. You know IRS would not have this problem....ok sorry, I know... im a bad influence.

Installing new leafs springs, bushings and shocks will help tremendously. I am running 17x7.9 w/ 5.5" BS with 275/40/17 and less than an 1" clearance and I have no rubbing issues what so ever, with the original parts it rubbed.

You sent a reply to my question rear drums to discs and asked me for the wheel/tire combo (sawblades?). So now you know that there are 255.

IRS would be very fine but I'm not sure if I could handle the swap. But if you told me all the advantages a second time I will sell the Nova rear:). My buddy installed a 4 link with a 12 bolt and so I know that's a lot of work, but he's still working worldwide and so there's no chance to help me.

So I will try the Nova rear with Eaton limited slip, hotchkis leafs, poly bushings, Summit Alu cover, Vette brakes, new shocks, 1" sway bar.
I think this will solve my rubbing problem.

At least: I checked my SSBC proportioning valve and noticed that it has a 1/8" NPT inner thread with an adapter to a 3/8" inner thread. The 3/8" will not fit the 6,3 mm brake line to the rear.

Are there adapters from 1/8" NPT to 7/16" inner thread?
