Hello this is the first time I have posted on this forum. I have a 1966 Stingray Roadster project car. I purchased it years ago as a project barn find. It has a perfect and solid rust free birdcage, decent frame (never crashed hard) with minor rust. I collected the NOS GM body parts, I had a lot of them even before I bought the car. One of my best friends rebuilt the front clip using NOS GM parts (repo BB hood). Replaced the rear quarters do to the wheel lips being removed by a previous owner. I am very happy with the way the gaps onthe doors, hood, and deck turned out.
I want to rebuild the frame using a more modern suspension.
Plan on running and LS3 or BB Chevy crate motor.
Repaint with original paint and interior combo Blue and Blue and White
Factory Style Side exhaust,
UPDATE 10/14/2022 Purchased ZL-1 Big Block Crate motor.

Always loved those cars. On the engine I'd suggest going with the modern setup as you'll get the same or better power with much better mileage and a lot less weight on the front. Nose-heavy cars make for unpleasant cornering. And, going with a modern engine means you can go with a better than 3/4 speed transmission as well.

Very nice! Excited to see where you go with this. If you need some inspiration, here’s a link to another member’s project on here that I’ve been watching. It’s a great blend of old and new and might give you some inspiration. Keep the updates coming!

Love the car. Gaps look great and the ‘66 big block hood has always been my favorite.
I have one of the ‘64 builds on here. Looking forward to following yours.

Great car, I've always loved these cars. Looks like you guys nailed the body work. Is there trim that goes along the body lines with the little holes, or is that the seam for filler? Also, I'd go with the LS3 and don't look back. You'll be much happier down the road.

The seams get filled in with filler. This is actually the factory seams. All panels are correct/ complete panels with factory correct bonding strips. No patch panels were used. I want this to be a really nice car. I really like your Camaro- 1968 Camaro LS6, T56, Z51 brakes, 12 bolt, Speedtech, Hotchkis, DSE

Love the C2!!! I had a '66 convt (stolen from me in uptown New Orleans 1995) and then a big block '66 coupe. Big block roadster (esp. with a ZL1!!!) is as good as it gets!!!

Thanks, I got a long way to go. I can't decide if I want to resore my original frame or go with an SRIII tube Chassis.

If you want an SRIII, just don’t be in a hurry to get it…

I am not in any big hurry, what is the current wait time?

Responded to you in the other other thread as well, but I’d just call Mike and ask. He was having a hard time getting materials and people to show up for work when mine was built. Hopefully things are better now.

Have you looked into what the Roadster Shop might have available?

No I have not considered a RS chassis. I have nothing against them, as they have a great reputation, a lot would depend if I can use my stock rear quarter panels without making any modifications. Thanks for the suggestions.

I love the idea of a classic-looking Sting Ray with modern goodies underneath.

You can use your stock rear quarters with an aftermarket chassis. I kept mine. I’m still able to run a 345 tire out back, too. You just have to cut out your factory floor and glass in an aftermarket piece to accommodate the narrowed frame rails and bigger wheel tubs.
Roadster Shop is a nice piece. I contacted them in October of ‘21 about a chassis and they told me it would be March of ‘22 before they could get to me. No idea what the turnaround looks like now.
