hey guys i have had the speedtect 69 camaro pro touring subframe for almost 10 yrs now just getting to the part where im putting everything back together. ther are mounting points under the frame for the stock 69 camaro sway bar if you arent using their front mounted bar.

can anyone tell me what size bolts i need for the U shaped mounts/
i know its not stock 69 camaro bolt size as i have those and they are too small

and yes i have tried contacting speedtech with no answer (almost 2 weeks now)
i never thought they had good customer service or great knowledge of their stuff anyway

Surprising to hear on the call. I bought the torque arm setup and called 3-4 times when ordering.
Maybe a Covid issue.

Have you tried just putting in the next size up? 3/8-16 is my guess, but I don’t own a speedtech sub, or even a Camaro

Thanks for the link.

After trying to explain that their subframe has provisions for a stock style sway bar and that i know it wont work with the high clearance lower control arms because i have their regular arms [emoji23] i got an answer of 7/16-20 lol

I still think you’re crazy because you’ve got the skill level to put an entire front clip on a car, and you waited 2+ weeks for someone to tell you the size of a bolt that you could have figured out in <5 minutes by measuring or threading in a few random bolts you had laying around.
Don’t take offense... Where I’m from, friends break each other’s b@lls

Ive been pretty quiet on the forums but recently have been dealing with Speedtech and they have been nothing but fantastic.

I agree with Chris above...

Sorry i work 12 hr shifts plus call in one of new yorks busiest cardiac carh labs. So hopefully you understand that its probably easier for me to ask a question to get an answer than to come home on probably borrowed time before getting called in to work on an emergency laying on my back trying different bolts to see what works.

And i still got the wrong answer [emoji23]

I think youll find that when building these cars, there are so many variances in cars/parts/combinations that relying on someone who is not intimate with YOUR car, will sometimes provide you with information that is not relevant to your car.
Im only trying to save you time in the long run...

True and i thank you for your input. But the answer of 7/16-20 came directly from speedtech which turned out to be wrong

I’ve installed a few Speedtech torque arms and subframes and the hardware kits are usually incomplete with random extraneous parts thrown in to generate confusion.... . Great parts but hardware kits not so much....

Hey Don.
Been a long time since i have been on here and i guess that is not an excuse!!!
the hardware kits are 100% the most difficult part of the entire process. we try to make the kits complete and use only grade 8 fasteners.
some kits are meant to cover multiple models like the torque arm hardware so it covers the first gens including convertible which has 4 extra bolts and the second gen also but it does not use the rear shear plates in the trunk. so i suppose you would end up with extra bolts no mater what unless it was a convert. trying to make things streamlined can have consequences. so after all that, what could be done better? is it the instructions? or the packaging ?
can't fix what we don't know id broken. please let me know [email protected]

What do you mean " just as i thought 7/16-20 is too big. "

I think in the last 15 years of building these sub frame you are the first guy that has had a problem with these bolts. We do not supply the bolts for that location because 98% of the sub frames sold do not use them, it was an original option for the guys who might have had a off brand of tubular controls arms and there fore had to use the stock sway bar. it is a very uncommon combination. i suppose we could use 3/8 bolts but at some point decided to use 7/16.

AS to the contacting us and not getting an answer, can you elaborate on that? did you call? we have a live person answer the phones and you can leave a message after hours. email? FB messanger? did you speak to someone? who was it? because 2 weeks is un acceptable, but it can't be fixed with out specifics.
