My dad just sent me these pics and I'm sure they are floating around the net. Makes me think more about safety and less about speed. I don't see any gore – seems clean to me. Not that this would have helped him but I'm gona install a cage now.

Ahhh, that's not too bad-- it should buff right out with some Zaino...

Seriously though, ouch. I wonder how fast he was going.

Supposedly the accident happened near Milan in October; estimated speed was 250 km/h (155mph)

Oh, and uh, that would be "squishy bits" under the green tarp in pic #3.

Squishy bits? :barf:

I'd like to know what the guy hit to make the car detonate into a thousand pieces like that. Doesn't say a whole hell of a lot about Ferrari's safety standards does it?

Race tracks are for doing 155 mph. Not residential streets. Sorry to hear he lost his life, but this should be a valuble lesson to others.

it was an enzo. compare'd the quarter panel with a non wrecked version.

Thats enzo number 2 that i know of where the carbon fiber passenger tub exploded.

Just because you can afford the Enzo that does not make you Michael Schumacher.

Does it at least make you Ruben barrichello?

I know the car blew apart but would it have been much different with a vette, if the speed and impact were similar?

I think I'd rather take my chances in the 'vette. Carbon fibre may be incredably strong, but when it reaches it's limit it shatters like a cheap wine glass.

Must have been passing and hit another car? A guy in a Honda Civic hit a tree going over a 100 mph on the 2 lane highway near my house. People thought a small plane had crashed the wreckage was so wide spread. The driver died on impact and his girlfriend who was riding along they found about 100 yards away still strapped in her seat.

Is it me or do the Corvettes appear to "stay together" better than the others (especially Porsche)?

Speed does not kill, the sudden stops do! I dont care what you are in,if you hit a "solid" object you are going to be very hurt or worse.BUT there is a pic of a Carerra GT on Wrecked Exotic ,both guys were killed but the car looked hardly hurt.

A website for wrecked exotic cars?

That's incredible. They have a website for everything these days.

I'm going to start a website about bottle caps.

Oh wait...somebody beat me to it. Damn! www.bottlecaps.com

Is that thing still in one piece, or is it just the way it's piled?

Dont know who said it but does anybody really think it would have made a difference if the guy was in a ferrarri or a corvette? He could have been in a Hummer and the road still would have looked like an explosion!! THE CAR WAS GOING OVER 155 MPH!!!!! Dont think anything Street made production car would withstand that!! ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION!!
