What Pontiac engine combos are you running & what performance numbers did you get or expect.

1971 455HO block 0.060(Bal. + Blued), Scat H-beams, Eagle crank, 27 cc dished pistons, Edel. Alum. 87 cc heads, Cometic head gasket(.045) Edel. Torker II intake, CAT 1.65 rockers, Crane custom grind cam (approx. 550L/246D/112LC), EFI(BigStuff3), ProCharger D-1SC non intercooled(5-10psi depending), Milodon high flow alum. water pump,....blah blah blah

469 CID, 8.7 CR, and 8.7 L

Hoping for 600HP and more TQ.

72 455 2 bolt block with ARP main studs. 455 N crank cut .020 and counterweights cut down. Scat stock length H-beams with .035 over SRP light weight forged flat tops. 9.6:1 calulated compression at .005 deck. Speed Pro dura molly rings with ductile top ring and low tension oil rings. Canton road race pan. 80 psi pump, blocked oil filter bypass.

#96 D-ports ported to RA IV gasket size on the intake, Ported to the header size on the exhaust. Crossovers filled. Crower 60310 Solid lifter cam 240/248, 112 LSA, .509/.534 @ 1.6 installed at 106. Crower oil restricting lifters, Crower stainless Enduro rockers, 1 3/4" primary custom Tri-Y headers into 2.5" Pypes X-pipe, Magnaflow stainless mufflers. Ported Holley Street Dominator intake with 800 DP and Ram Air Systems air box ducted to the core support.

Dyno 2000 calls for 470hp and 520ft/lbs but that HP number appears pretty optimistic. I expect the 520ft/lbs, maybe up to 550ft/lbs, but I'm thinking 440hp is probably max with these heads. My car has a TKO600 and 3.73 gears otherwise I would probably be running a RAIV cam with Rhoads lifters and possibly a ported Performer. Still might in the future.

Kevin, How did you mount up the procharger? Did you make your own brackets?

Jagarang

Definitly gonna have to be custom brackets. Frank(ProdigyCustoms) is going to work out the bracket set-up. He doesn't think it's going to be to difficult. Perhaps he'lll chime in.

Ken Keefer (Pontiac Dude) has a full Procharger setup he sells with brackets and all the goodies. Here's his site.

I'm just finishing my engine build: .030 over 421 with 4-bolt mains, steel crank, and Canton deep pan. Currently has rebuilt 1968 #16 heads, but may swap them for a set of #77s that I have (to be more correct). Compression with the #16s is 11:1. Induction is a 1965 tripower setup, and exhaust is HO manifolds through 2.5" Pypes system with X-change and electric cutouts. Also running Dave's small-body HEI. It'll be bolted to a TKO600 which is beign delivered Friday. Plan on having it dyno-tuned prior to installation and will post numbers then.

Sounds like some interesting builds. I just need to decide what to build for the bird!

David, that set up sounds similer to what I was thinking.

One question, Why did you go with the Torker II intake? I was think a performer RPM would be better.

John i didnt whant to cut up de 68 400 hood . the torkerII fits under the hood . the performer rpm dont!! the rpm is also often used with a spacer ... besides the diferens in hp is negelectable ... and these type of injun engines diliver all the hp/torque you need . no need for pro chargers turbos ecetera waist of money . 500/550 hp is all you need on the street ore the track . turbo,s and pro chargers are impresife to say the least , but more moving mecanicel parts more heat turbo lag/ ecetera ecetera , i belive they perform beter on the 1/4 ore longer straights . but for street/track use i belive in good old fasion NA injun torque

What do you think about that New Warrior intake. It is designed to fit under the hood, and looks more like a victor than a torker.

An RPM can fit beneath the stock hood with a custom drop base air cleaner assembly.

The TII is not a bad intake but the Tomahawk/Warrior intake might be a better choice if you want a single plane. It is based on the Holley Street Dominator that was heavily modified by Dave Bischopff up in Canada. Dave did all the port work and then a new casting was done based on his work.

If you intend to buy one of those, buy it from a Pontiac builder. They company that's selling them as the "Warrior" intake really shafted those guys who did all the development work. I'd rather see the guys who do the development work and bleed Pontiac blue get the fruits of their labor. Sources for that intake:

http://www.spottsperformance.com/ i AGREE most with wat gritter mention . but Cliff rugles famous for his outstanding prepeard quadrajet carbs . dyno tested the Tomowhawk against the rpm and the rpm actualy made better nr,s . haveing said that the tomowhawk defenatly hase the looks an shows that nice valy pan room underneath it .. you could also go for a big bore short stroke higher rpm street/ cirquit engine then i would go for the out of production Torker I manifold .. but the torkerII and indeed the Tomowhawk are best to fit under the hood .

Agreed. I was aware of Cliff's testing. I think the RPM is still the best manifold out there for a Pontiac that's not a full race engine. I have one on my car.

If I was choosing between the TII or the Tomahawk out of the box, I'd go with the latter. The TII can perform equally well with some porting but I'd give the edge to the Tomahawk if no porting was done to either.

The Holley Dominator intake modified by Dave Bisshop was the pattern for the Tomahawk. The Tomahawk has some flow issues on #1 and #2 and they can run lean if running a Q jet and NO spacer. Not as bad with a square bore carb like a Holley.

YH 1970 455 crank and 2 bolt main block 0.030 20cc dish Ross pistons, SCAT rods 6.625 Pontiac journals. 72cc E heads KRE CNC ported to 320 cfm 2.11/1.66 valves. Ultradyne/Lunati 239/247 @ 0.050 on a 112 LS, 107 IC. 1.8 Crower rockers on the intake 1.65(1.7 real) Harland Sharp on the exhaust. Torker II welded for taller ports 2.350".Holley 850 DP, no rear PV, rear jet extensions. 2" Super Comps into a 3" Dr. Gas X crossover ,welded Ultraflows, 3" mandrel Torque Tech tailpipes.

10.99 @ 124 mph with a air cleaner and Shaker on the motor.

Wow - I missed this post. Here's the specs on my EFI motor:

Engine Specs

1967 400 WZ code block 0.030 over

Eagle stroker rotating assembly yields 462 ci

Edelbrock 87cc heads ported by Kauffman Racing Equipment to 310 cfm

10.2 CR

Ferrea 2.11/1.77 SS valves

Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers

Comp Cams 242/250 duration, .576/.577 lift hydraulic roller cam

Romac SFI balancer

RARE Super Long Branch Exhaust manifolds (I hate headers)

Torker EFI intake, port matched

Accel Gen 7 EFI with 36 lb/hr injectors, 255 l/hr fuel pump

Kinsler 1000 cfm throttle body

Dynoed at 529 hp @ 5600 rpm and 559 ft-lb torque @ 4500 rpm with wrong 29 lb/hr injectors (thanks Edelbrock). Note that this was with 1 3/4" Hedman headers. With the correct injectors we estimate at least 560 hp.
