Hi Guys,
Hit a bit of rock bottom this week. Stripped the car and sent it for vapour blasting this week and what looked like a perfect body turns out to be far from it!
It looks like the car was shunted from behind, and the whole passenger rear quarter/door also got a bang.
Replacement '73 shells are not available here on this side of the Atlantic (Ireland) so I'm going to put the shell on a table and see if it needs to be straigthened on a jig. Assuming we get past that point I was looking to purchase new panels (quarter panel, door skins, tail light panels etc) but given the cost, shipping and where I live I wanted to get some advice as to the fit of these replacement panels.
I'm worried that cheap replacements will not fit properly and will cost a small fortune making them fit due to kinks etc.

I see new ones for sale from Firebird Nation, Classic Industries etc - anyone have any experience with these from a fit perspective?

I think you will find that there is only one manufacturer of panels for those cars. I’ve used Goodmark quarters and tail panels for those cars and they fit quite well. There is a small filler piece missing in the tailpan corners that needs to be saved or fabricated. I have not used the door skins.

You might reach out to John at the Second Gen Graveyard on Facebook:

He's in the process of moving, so he may not be able to quickly get back to you, but he parts out many of these cars. He may have, or be able to find, quality original panels which you can use.

Good luck.

It really sucks that crap repairs are done like that. I suspect you will but I would eye ball that frame rail also.

I've done a few Fbody restorations and I have bought a number of parts from Frank's Pontiac Parts. Not cheap but always well described. He is in southern CA.

Wow, I'd be gutted, that's terrible.

I've also had great luck with Frank's Pontiac Parts. As mentioned, he's not the least expensive but you get exactly what you pay for.
