View Full Version : Opinions on new suspension

I bought a 67 RS a couple weeks ago. The suspension is shot but the rest of the car is very solid. The front suspension is all wrong (junk tubular control arms, lowering spindles and springs) so everything rubs everywhere. The rear had the stock leafs but there was a set of multi leafs in the trunk so those are in for now. I was going to fix the front so I could drive it while picking out what I want but it seems stupid to do everything twice. I’m just going to replace everything now but I need help deciding what I want to do. I want the car to handle amazingly. I like a stiff car and want a very stiff street car, probably close to an auto cross car incase it ever comes up which is a possibility.

My plans are completely replace everything front and rear. I want coil overs tubular control arms and everything else for the front. For the rear I want a mini tub and a multi link with coil overs and everything else too. I’ll probably do frame ties and body mounts while I’m doing the suspension to stiffen it up a little more. The front has disc brakes already but eventually it will get bigger discs all around. This winter I’m going swap in an h/c LS2 and Tremec t56.

There’s too many brands for me to pick. I’m leaning towards a ridetech front end with the truturn and add on. For the rear the BMR torque arm looks good but I don’t really know if it is. I’m looking for opinions from people who know and have experience with them. I’ve built and helped build lots of cars but all have been straight line cars. I’ll be doing all the but that’s why I bought it so I have a new project to make the way I want.

Thanks.
Brent

You need to contact Rod Prouty here on PT his 67 still runs the stock subframe if I'm not mistaken.

That’s a long read. That’s similar to what I want but without all the extra steps of doing it 2 or 3 times. Thanks.

I did all the front except for the sway bar today. I’m getting new rotors and pads before I get it finished up. Everything went together good.
