HEy All , Im getting ready to install a Mark VIII fan in my 72 Bird.

Im looking into getting a Variable Speed controller to control the fan.

I noticed you all mention the DC Control units.

Has anybody used the Spal, or Flex-a-lite Brand Speed controllers ?

Can anybody tell me the pros and cons of the units and which would bet my best bet ?

They all seem to have variable fan speed, is one better than the other ? The Spal looks the nicest, but just looks dont cut it.

Here are some links to the fan controllers-

I used the Flex a lite controler on my car with the mark VIII fan it worked fine and had good directions. Im happy with it

Alot of the guys on here use the DC controler and Ive never heard a bad word about it. Looks pretty easy to install also.

Get the DC Controller and forget it. If anyone is running the Flex-a-Lite speed controller, check this link. It will make you think twice. I know how they are made and they are junk-whether you are having problems with them now or not. -Jabin
