Has anyone here had any luck using a Dakota Digital bim module 01-2? In particular with a e40 ecm out of a GTO. I'm not having any luck.

I'm running it with an E38. The E40 is kind of a oddball ecm. But that shouldn't matter as far as the Can-Bus data goes. What type issues are you having?

I'm not getting any information to the vhx gauge cluster.

Make sure nothing else is connected to the bus, a code scanner for example. I once had an issue where I had to change the bus address of the BIM to get it to operate correctly. There are four possible addresses if I remember right. The instructions describe how to change it.

Do you have Bus selected as your gauge inputs on the menu for each of the selections? Another thing to consider is some harnesses have an oil pressure sender plug and some don’t. If yours doesn’t you might have to use the DD one supplied in the VHX kit.

Use an ohm meter and check the can high and low At the DLC while the ignition is off Should be 60ohms. If it’s higher like 120 you may need a resister to bring it back down, could be causing excessive noise. Probably not this but worth a shot If all else fails.
