70 Camaro Subframe

Need a new one but all the aftermarket ones are "all included" special designs. It seems.

Thing is, my OEM subframe is tricked out with Hotchkis arms, viking shocks, Vette brakes, goodies and everything that I was just going to move to a new subframe. Any companies on here, or anywhere that offer a subframe that I can bolt on the stuff I have, made to fit an OEM subframe? Or anyone that remake the OEM 2nd gen F body subframe? I know there are take out at the junkyards but those are rarely straight, and need a ton of work. I was planning on not doing a ton of work, just pop out the old worn out one, bolt on parts, in with the new.

What is wrong with your stock frame?
I'm working on a reproduction 1st gen frame for a customer and they are not any better than a stock one.
No one makes a stock frame reproduction of the second gens at this time.
The second gen frame geometry is very good but the steering geometry is not good for R&P (as are any older car) so in order to correct for the use of a R&P all the components have to be redesigned.

The stock frame is old and crusty. Don't really want to dig into it as atleast one body mount is rusted pretty bad(driver side middle) and I know it's probably twisted as well. I know the geometry on the second gen frame is good, which is why I find it very hard to fork out $9k on a Detroit Speed subframe. Especially as I've dialed in the arms, steering, shocks and springs on the one I have now and very happy with how it handles. Buying aftermarket subframe now that nothing of what I have fits anymore and start over is not what I want.

I know AMD is making a repop 1st gen subframe. Might give them a call if they have a 2nd gen subframe in the works, but you are probably better informed than I so when you say no one makes a 2nd gen stock replacement then it's probably true.

I also doubt the sec gen frame has a market for stock replacement. Other than being wrecked, the body mount areas are what rust. Good thing is there are plates out there to fix them. If it was a first gen frame, no question...aftermarket. Only a purist would rework the stock frame, it’s not right for modern performance

I was in the same boat. I ended up selling all my bolt on suspension parts and buying a DSE frame. The price has gone up over the last few years, but when you consider what all the parts cost, the repairs, the stripping and powder coating, it’s not that more expensive than re-working the OEM frame. Have you looked at the Speed Tech frame?

Thanks, I looked at Speed Tech frame but still find it hard to justify the expense. Spent many hours of finding the right parts, testing and tuning the car and finally found the sweet setup I like for minimal shock tuning for the use that given day. I use the car for everything, including drag racing, so coilovers are out of the question, At my power level having a big spring that stores energy is great for weight transfer on launch. Looks like I'll be finding a good OEM subframe somewhere.
