Hello pro touring peeps!
Apart from dodging bad fires, excessive smoke and heat I have a 65 malibu that's a work in progress. I mainly take it drag racing but have decided it's future is more of an all rounder.
Interior is done. Body needs help but that's the 2020 project. Mechanically it runs a 383, th400 and a strange engineering 9" with 3.9 gears and wilwood rear disks. . Back end has upper and lower UMI trailing arms and viking adjustable shocks. Front end is basically stock except for single piston disks and viking shocks. All on 15" wheels.
So.... now I've decided to make it more of an All rounder the plans after the body is finished are new tubular front A arms, sway bars front and rear and a new steering box . Plus a brake upgrade (just what will be dependent on wheel size). And a decision on whether to fit an overdrive auto or move to tremec 5 cogger.
They ran a version of the Optima street car challenge here in oz last October (sadly I couldn't do as I was locked into something else the other side of the country) that id love to do. Apparently it's back in Feb 2021 so I'm keen to have the Malibu sorted to enter. Sure looks like fun!
Cheers,
