Does anyone have a clue why this GM starters application is only for the 2014-15 LS7 Z28 Camaro? Seems odd to me....

Same starter used on the new LT1. It’s smaller and has a different connector for the solenoid which would explain why it’s not compatible with earlier LS applications.

Here’s the difference. Might be a worth while y
typical LS1 starter upgrade.

Thanks for the info. My question would be will it fit in the Quick Time Bell Housing. https://www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/bellhousings/chevrolet/parts/RM-8020

as soon as I get my new bolts, I’ll find out. I have a LS7 with the QuickTime. Right now I see no reason why it wouldn’t.

installed it today, no issues. Waiting on my heat shield to connect the wires and ensure it all works harmoniously

Nice, look at that, smaller and more compact!

Works great, sounds like it has more power. But that may because my old starter was not in good health

Great info about the fit for your starter. I will consider one of these in the future when mine dies. I had to take some material off my Quick Time bell housing and the starter to get them to fit. I am using the GM 28-12617229 - LS3 Starter and it would have not fit without the clearancing.) Not sure what the reasoning for it not fitting maybe it is my combination i.e. LSA block with the Quick Time housing.

Must be something about that starter. The starter that was on my LS1 was a standard LS starter. I moved it over to the the LS7 and no issues and now this smaller Z28 starter with no issues. All three applications were using a Quicktime Bellhousing.
