This is probably a very stupid question, but I looked this block up at mortec.com and this is what I found:
10051107...454...............4-bolt, Bowtie, MkIV, 9.8" deck, siamesed cylinder barrels, 4.25" semi-finished bores, can be bored to 4.50"

Is there anything special about this block? I do not build engines, but I have an opportunity to buy this block. The guy wants me to make him an offer, but I do not know what it is worth. It is brand new, never used. Any help is greatly apprecaited.
Thanks,
Rich

What you have is a early Bowtie Big Block there.

You can build a killer motor out of that, 540cubes or more with ease. I've got a CNC version with billet caps laying around here that stickers for $2400+ but i'd sell for $1800-$2000 probably. The non CNC cast cap versions are easliy worth $1000. Hell a Mark IV production block if it's good is worth over $500 and you never know if they are good.
