With an impact that hard and from that angle, I dont think the driver door would have opened anyway. The fender would have been knocked back enough to prevent it from opening. Dang that looked painful.

actually, the door opened all the way. They were probably still on the phone.

BAM!!!!

"hey dude, Im gonna have to call you back..."

That is the main reason I never took an interest in bikes, all those idiots in cars.

And I hate cell phones!!!!

Believe it or not, the driver of the car may have been knocked silly from the impact or the air bag. I had a Hyundai come into the shop hit in the passenger door, and the driver of the car was killed. The guy on the bike went to the emergency room and was released hours later bruised up.

oh man dont show this to my mom. she is not too happy im looking into getting another bike and its not because of me, its from people like this.

also the biker wasnt paying attention or froze. he should have been reading traffic better. there was at least 3 seconds after that car crossed the line before they hit the car. at normal speeds that would have been enough time to do more than hit the car head on and go over the handle bars.

What gets me is all the cars behind the car that the bike hit just pulled out and went around ....never checking the rider. I understand that sometimes people DONT want to get involved but Damn this guy is laying in the road WTF!

Ws6 You are absolutely right. The guy on the bike dropped the ball.

I have ridden for years, close to a hundred thousand miles on my current gsxr and I hate when people on bikes blame everything on cars.

The guy in the video is flying and the car is stopped when he hits it, the front end isnt even compressing.

If you get cut off a lot on your bike, you are not paying attention.

Sermon over.

Im with you guys, I also have a bike and this guys has no clue as how to ride. It looks like the car saw him at the last second and froze. The guy on the bike isn't even trying to stop.He should have been braking hard front and rear and blipping the throttle to down shift as many time as possible. If you've ever watched a pro curcuit race you wouldn't believe how fast a bike can go from full throttle to a hair pin turn and then to full throttle again.

Yea, I noticed that yesterday, he didn't try to stop swerve or anything, it looked like he was going rather fast, but also looks like he went off the side of the road, body wise that is,

I always kept my headlights adjusted high, and flashed my high beams whenever anyone was waiting to turn in front of me whether I thought they saw me or not, I survived....the thing that REALLY peeves me is when you honk af someone who is about to change lanes into you and they just keep coming....I fixed that though....LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES

most of the motorcycle guys around here have a flashing front light now. One of the local "stunt" riders was killed this way, and since they all adopted the flashing headlight module. Saves lives.

When you think about how downright scary-fast some bikes are, he could have been going 5mph when the car started to move, and 50+ by the time he hit it.

There was a crash like this locally, where a bike had just taken a corner and was going slow when someone 1/2 a block away started to pull out. The guy on the bike was showing off, and accellerated very quickly, right into the side of the car that the driver of thought was clear to pull out.

We don't see where the bike was, or how fast it was going when the car crossed into the lane in this video.... seeing the whole picture might tell a different story.

I had a car door opened into me and my old bike. I was going about 25-30mph, they were on their cell-phone getting out of a BMW.

The impact bent the door flush aginst the front fender, and somehow I only ended up with a few scratches. I kinda saw it comming so I held on for dear life. The bike I was on was a mess...

Gotta love those cellphones....

Crazy video. What's with the music?

I love custom choppers and custom bikes but I'd never own one. Call me a sissy, but when I'm on the road...it like to know that I'm surrounded by sheet metal.
