Helping a neighbor correct a 1979 eBay Camaro...can't get the ride height he wants because tires will hit fenders.

167935

Stock OEM upper and lower arms, but this aftermarket spindle with SSBC calipers.

It's a 245/45/17 tire on an 8" wheel with 4.5" backspace. Looks like the steering arm will keep from going much deeper backspace...

Here is the brake setup.

The car won't be raced or anything like that, strictly a street cruiser. It appears to me someone put this spindle on just so they could use these calipers and rotors, but the spindle pushes the wheel WAY out...

Trying to figure out the most reasonable cost\part option to get the tire to tuck into the fender instead of sticking out of it.

Thanks,
Lance

So, I found the spindle

Now I just need to figure out if we can make it work or not?

Anyone have any experience with these?

No good pic showing it, but is there a lot of positive camber?
Drop spindles tend to have issues with Wheel/Steering arm interference. If you could get a wheel with another 1/4-1/2" bs in there and get the possible camber issue sorted out it might be enough.
My guess is those spindles don't effect track width.

In that picture the spring is out and suspension is compressed. It's the old OEM geometry arms so the top of the tire tips out (positive camber) as the suspension compresses.

Question is, will new upper arms be enough to tip the tire in enough under compression to tuck it inside the fender lip?
