This project has already been in the works for a while now, but a slow start building up funds for the parts. Started as a bone stock 31 Chevy coupe a friend told me about that was being sold outside of an estate sale. Got it for a great price and that’s where it all began. Next piece to the puzzle was a power plant. At heart I’m a mopar guy and always had love for the viper engine. I know it’s not the most practical/lightest/price saving engine but I wanted something different and the big v10 was it. The engine came from Cleveland power and performance, was extremely happy with the whole process and quality of the pallet/set up. Then I went with performance automotive front and rear C6 frame rail connectors. Had the front crossmember narrowed 6” so the frame rails would better fit the car. That’s about where I’m at now, mocking up where the motor is going to sit and tying the frame all together. Still have lots undecided but just going for it as I can. Also taking ideas for a project name! Thanks guys.

Oh wow!! Now this is my kind of build....very excited to see this one progress!!
Question, what are your plans for the body? If it were me, I would NOT chop the top. Leave it in all of its vertical awkwardness. Slam the body/chasis to the ground and build giant, custom fender flares to cover the tires. I think it would look perfect. But then again, its not my ride!

Thank you. No plans to chop it, also like the tall goofiness of it. Body frame will be slammed as much as possible but still ok for long road trips. Keeping it open wheel with some fat meats all the way around.

Very cool.....super excited to see this one come together...please keep the updates coming. I love this site, but we need more threads like these to keep the variety up!....'69 Camaro with DSE sub frames and LS motors are cool....but they're all '69 Camaros with DSE sub frames and LS motors!

Had a little time after work tonight to cut out the firewall. Was able to roll the motor and tranny under and slide the front suspension under. Things are just resting in place, not exact location. Motor/tranny needs to come up a few inches then back a little, and the body down some. Wheelbase looking to be somewhere in the 108-110 area. Felt good to see it looking like something. 166912166913166914

How much did you narrow the track ?
I had giving some thought some time ago about doing one! but instead of narrowing the track ,I was thinking of widening the body!
Keep the good work up ! We are waiting patiently:)

Took 6” out of the front end. It put the frame rails perfectly in line with the body mount location. Worked out well and I believe it would of looked way too goofy if I didn’t do it.

Been a slow process but picked up some tires for mock up, waiting on a viper oil pan to come in. Swapping it out with the oil pan on this engine cause the ram trucks had a deep sump style towards the back, should save me some ground clearance. Once that’s on I’ll start getting things where I want them to tie in the front and rear suspension.

You better put a 3' tall spoiler on it, just to keep it on the ground! Sweet build.
