Looking for upgrade recommendations...
1970 Nova.

Current set up, stock power front disc / rear drum set up. Stops ok but want a little better if I can find an affordable option. Rotor size matters, I’m keeping my 15 inch wheels.

Any recommendations that will make a huge difference? Looks like there’s a few options (Wilwood DynaLite, SSBC, Right Stuff, etc...)

Car is street driven, no track time ... LS3/TKO.

Thanks!

I'm sure your stock setup with fresh pads/shoes,with good drums/rotors is fine for street. even if you put a giant ceramic rotor 6 piston Brembos on the front it won't stop much better if you're only running a 225 tire.

That said, wilwood will have a nice kit that fits a 15" wheel

if you shop around with a $1300-1500 or so budget, and maybe a new master cylinder something like these maybe.? of course I'd call whoever you order from first for the correct p/n#s

Best is probably getting good pads for your stock calipers. For what you’re doing, most of the aftermarket calipers will just be for flashy looks.

Not much else needed.

Appreciate the input. Called Kore 3 and talked with Tobin(?). Extremely helpful/educational conversion. He pretty much talked me out of buying a new set up, I don’t need it for my use / small front tires (215’s).

Gonna probably go with better pads.

If I ever want to upgrade I’m calling up Kore 3. Highly recommended

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy from SSBC. The only thing worse then their brake kits is their customer service. They're definitely a Small Shiddy Brake Company. You'd be better off upgrading pads, etc. on your current setup as others have said and then later, if your driving usage changes you can upgrade them and spend the money once rather then buying a "small" brake kit now and possibly a "large" brake kit later.

NovaSF:
If you want to upgrade your rear drums to discs using tried & true, stock parts; I test fitted a rear disc set-up from a 2001, 2WD Chevy Blazer that fit inside 15" Olds SSII rally wheels. The Blazer rotors are 11.61" in diameter and just barely cleared the rims. Make sure you get a 2WD set-up as the 4WD rotors are almost 1" deeper and didn't fit my A-body, BOP rear end.

My $.02 - get better pads. I like Hawk HP Plus. And get great tires with a good CoF so you lessen the possibility of locking them up.
