Anyone else excited about it? I know that this isn't a Corvette forum and hasn't really been mentioned here, but there's got to be a few of you that are looking forward to it, no?
I know we've all seen the spy shots all wrapped in camo, I can't wait to see what it really looks like without all that on and in some color! Oh and some engine options and power numbers would be nice. Price? I don't care because I know I'll never be able to afford one! :rotfl:

Eh...it’s going to be an old mans car.

Luckily I’m an old man....
Will be some crazy swaps using that drivetrain some day.

Old man's car? lol.. that's mostly because it's so expensive. Young guys usually can't afford one.
It's nice to see that GM has finally built their flagship performance car with the proper performance engine layout. :) I'd love to have one... but I'll be spending those funds on my current fleet of mid-engine cars (Radical SR8s).

I am curious more about the details of the engines. The dual clutch transmissions are already shown on the Tremec website. I really hope the aftermarket steps up and develops user friendly TCUs for these transmissions.

It will be a flagship with the latest technology for sure. However, I like the traditional Corvette that has room for luggage or golf clubs, is comfortable for long trips, gets good fuel economy on the highway, and can run with the big boys on track day.
When you buy your new C8 with all the goodies, I'll take your old C6 off your hands.

Will be some crazy swaps using that drivetrain some day. For sure! I'll bet you'll be seeing that transaxle turn up in a whole bunch of kit cars! RCR UltraLite, FF GTMs, etc. Should be some neat stuff coming through...

The dual clutch transmissions are already shown on the Tremec website.I would have guessed (or hoped!) that the C8 is using a true transaxle. Are you thinking the TR9090 will be available in transaxle form?

That would be my guess, unless GM went with another supplier.

That transaxle solution will be the first thing I'll want to know about the car.

I want to know about the engine. I heard LT2 as the base, but some sort of turbo engine as top dog.

I've driven one, it is going to be a great car. A big departure from the older cars, but it finally is making the evolution that Zora envisioned decades ago.

I guess it won't be the poor mans performance car anymore. I bet the top model will be about $200k
Heck, I think the 2019 ZR1 an acquaintance just bought was north of $150k

Well I think it looks amazing and they did a great job with it! 0-60 in under 3 seconds?! Starting at less than $60k? That's a lot of car for the money. Well done Chevrolet!
Imagine what the Z06 and ZR1 are going to be like!

I also saw that there is room for golf clubs (actually helmets and driving suits) in the rear trunk and another trunk in the front. I like it more than I thought I would, but see no use for the LED engine light option...

I like it. Would be great to pick up a nice used one in a couple of years. They will likely be selling for over list and other assorted BS for a while after they are introduced. I refuse to participate in that game...

I agree Don, going to be hard to get a fair deal on one for a while I bet. Overall I like the car, it looks a lot better than what I was expecting.

I don't hate it. There are only so many ways a mid engine car can be styled. I mostly can't tell any of the exotic cars apart for that reason.

OK, I admit it, it looks better then I thought it. Except the rear end which looks like a**. And the interior which looks typical Corvette cheap.
They will sell the crap out of them at these price points.
Currently the average age of a new Corvette buyer is 59. My guess is this may drop but I think they’ll miss the younger crowd with the lack of a manual trans.

Keep in mind the pictures you see are still pre production models and can still change before the cars get out to the public.
That being said I just got to spend some time in one at work today, the interior on the C8 is far ahead of the C7 in my opinion. The whole car looks good in person, much better than the pictures.

So basically take an American V8 and swap it into a European style body...
OK - Not a corvette fanboy but I don't look at this car and think "Corvette". It looks impressive... seems to perform well... and the price point seems reasonable. However, I am also not a Chevy fan in most regards - I've spent much of my life under the hood or under the chassis of them and I always seem to find issues with something - either a cheaply designed plastic interior, a "what the hell were they thinking" suspension design, and overly-complicated management system... Granted, I could say that about most cars - but Chevys always seem to catch most of my hate.
The car looks good - because it looks a lot like the older F430 Ferrari --
As far as the comment of C7 sales screeching to a halt... they have been in trouble for months - reported about 3-4 months ago the news reported Chevy had overproduced by tens of thousands of corvettes - meaning many are simply sitting on sales lots. Combine that with the announcement of the C8 - no one was going to buy. They should have done a limited release for the 2019 model and hit the C8 release harder with more unit availability

Reminds me of 1967. I hate to say it but I can remember the Stingray's introduction.

Looks like a warmed over camaro.
They don't have enough original design ability to come up with something new so they tried to knock off a lambo-Ferrari clone.

I was waiting for the official press release before buying a 2015/2016 Viper TA. With no manual option mentioned, I'll be getting the Viper. Different strokes for different folks. The 2019 ZR1 has a manual option but the car just doesn't quite do it for me somehow.

Yes I would tend to agree. But I will keep my mind open about that for now.
I have a Porsche Panamera with the PDK and it is pretty darn good. Does still take some of the fun out of driving however. Pretty sure I wouldn’t want that on a 911

Y'all can chuckle at the golf bag situation, but I think it is incredibly smart of GM to take this into account. Back in the early 1990s I was selling Mazdas, and the hottest little car on the market back then was the Mazda Miata. You guys have no idea how many deals were sent down the drain when the potential owners realized that they can't put ONE golf bag in the trunk of a Miata. Given the demographic (psychographic) nature of the average Corvette owner, being able to put two golf bags in it is genius.

The C8 looks like every other exotic because it's trying to run as fast as every other exotic. Engineering dictates most of the styling at this level now.
Never mind kit cars - this is gonna cause a trend of mid-engine classic muscle cars. Not everyone wants an LS motor, but everyone does like Tremec trannys and Corvette suspension parts.
I don't see how they can sell that thing for $60k. Maybe they are gonna eat the cost for a while to try to hook in some younger buyers.
Let's see what the differences & price increases are with the optioned-up ones. It might be starting at $60k on paper but cost $80k to get it with tires and seats. (And then there is the extra "market adjustment" tax added on by the dealerships...)
Man, the last batch of C7s are gonna be bargains.

At $60k, you could buy one for the parts. Engine, trans axle, suspension, electronics for your mid engine Chevelle or ??? and sell the body/interior to someone who wants to hang it on a wall as art.
At least you won’t have to wait until the transaxle shows up as a crate component.

I’ve chimed in once here already, but the more I look at the e-brochure, the more I like it. I’ve had a lot of nice cars over the years in my 40 years of driving, but have never been this excited about a new car. I’m not a Vette guy either.

I have been seriously debating selling my Trailblazer SS and buying a C8. I have always loved Corvettes except how the side frame rails are so high and makes it a little to hard to get in and out of them. The C8 now has lower side sills and made it very appealing to me. Plus it is just sexy!

How long before the space that is the trunk is filled with turbos and an intercooler? Now that's would really make it a fun car.

Very impressed with the engineers at Chevrolet for what they have achieved at this price point. The base car with Z51 will be beating so may exotics from across the pond. So proud of them for designing this mid engined corvette and keeping true to the history-low price, storage space, drive ability and performance. I can’t see how anyone with automotive experience can dislike the C8-it has really changed the game. Think of how many used European models (360, 430, Gallardo, 911, 12C, NSX) will change in value once this hits the dealers. I knew the 2020 models would sell out quickly. Great job GM.

I've seen some in camo near my place. I live only a few miles from GM Milford Proving Ground. One of my coworkers has seen a couple up close without the camo. It looks better in person than in the photos.
I will chime in on the golf bags. It makes a difference. So many of the drivers at the Sandhills Open Road Challenge comment about how comfortable and practical their Vettes are. They get great fuel economy for what they are, can hold a lot of luggage for two people, and are very capable road racing cars.
I was worried that the C8 would not retain the practicality of the previous few generations. I am pleasantly surprised.

Agree 100%. Not only can you fit golf clubs but what kills me in our C6 is that when you take the roof off your storage space is basically gone. But with the C8 you stow the roof in the trunk and still have the frunk for storage. I will definitely be getting one and at 34 I will be considerably below their after customer age.
I never buy first model year because there will undoubtedly be bugs that need to be worked out #1. #2 You know they will launch the Z06 in year two which will give you a sense of where every other model lands for the rest of the C8 range)Grand Sport as we know is just going to be a Z06 with the base engine). At that point I should know which direction I want to go. The one model I probably won't wait on is the ZR1 or Zora because it sounds like the batteries/electric motors for that model will take up the afformentioned frunk, which to me is a key feature.
So my decision order will be:
2022 Z06 if I like the wide body kit and powertrain.
202X Grandsport if I like the wide body kit but prefer the LT2 powertrain.
2021 Z51 if I don't like the wide body kit or Z06 powertrain.

It's already under development at GM. No, they will not fill the trunk. Yes, you should be able to buy one in about 2 years.
You can have your turbos and golf clubs too.

Transaxle is by Tremec, a dual clutch "automatic". I'm not sure if this means a planetary drive or gears. Many choices of wheels and three types of seats available.
