Looking at an LS6 with a supercharger on it putting out 600 to the crank. Internals are stock but cam and injectors have been upgraded. I hear the pistons are the weak spot on these motors but at what point do I need to worry about them and the bottom end with this setup? Supercharger is putting out about 5-6psi of boost.

Any pros or cons to this setup?

Thanks

I guess it all depends on how much you're paying.

So what are the draw backs to this setup. It will have the ECM wiring harness all done complete tuned and ready to run in my Camaro it was already in a muscle car so I won’t have to fool around with the ECM wiring harness. I know I’ll have to change the oil pan but from what I hear of these Corvette Y pans are very popular and retrofits like in the C1C2 Corvettes for these LS swaps they work perfect also know there will be other little things of everything I’m getting to have it up and running I think it’s worth it. Also the car it came out of has the same rear gearing and used a T56 which is what I plan on running. For 6k I think it’s a great deal. But you tell me?

What are the drawbacks to this setup?

You seem to be intent on searching out complex LS engines etc that deliver high horsepower and appear to be a good deal. Given this is your first LS swap why not go with something a little more basic and less complex to get your feet wet. A simple LS3 connect and cruise or if you need FI go LSA connect and cruise. No need to get in over your head on your first LS swap imho.....

Agree with you But the connect and cruise kits for LS3’s seems to be in the 13k- 18k range and you still need to get all the other accessories. This way I’m at the same starting point for a lot less.

Then buy a stock LS6 for $3500 or so on eBay. That supercharged LS6 will likely cause you considerable grief. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.... :>)
