DSE subframe with the Ford derived rack, car will be mostly street driven.

I'd add one. Also an inline filter in the return line between rack and cooler.

generally not an issue unless your running wide front tires or hydroboost. I have been selling and using PRC crossflow rads with cooler on driver side setup for -6 lines to use as a PS cooler.

Thanks for the advise on the filter, do you have a recommendation for one?

I have the same DSE subframe/rack setup and it will require a cooler eventually so I would just plan on installing one rather than waiting till you have a problem. Personally, I think a filter is unnecessary and just creates a restriction in the return line.

Power steering filters are a very good idea. ANY robust hydraulic system uses filters and has strict maintenance schedules regarding replacement and inspection.

The filter should be one that is designed to be used in hydraulic systems. Lee power steering sells one but you can likely also find some online that you could use with JIC/AN fittings pre-installed. I use -6 JIC teflon line for pressure and return, -10 JIC lines for Pump feed from reservoir, a lee filter, and a 10" wide x 3" tall x 1.5" power steering cooler.
