I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for fuel system setup for a 383(320whp) with a quadrajet. Specifically from the gas tank to the carb.
I've got a new carb from SMI (which is great)and now know I have too much fuel pressure. This is in a 69 camaro, that I'm trying to prep for light autocrossing and track days.

I'm wondering if the stock fuel tank, lines, setup are up to the task.
The mechanical fuel pump I have now is a street holley unit that I have to add a regulator to reduce the fuel pressure. Should I add the regulator or would a stock replacement fuel pump be enough.

Would it be better to have a tank with baffles(for cornering?) and a electric fuel pump at the tank then regulator to carb?

any info would be appreciated!!
thanks,
chris

For that power output, a Carter street pump with a built-in internal regulator will do nicely. I have the same pump.

I was just looking at the Carter street pump and it says it delivers 6psi.
I think I need less pressure for the quadrajet 4-5psi.
any thoughts?

That pump is specifically set up to work without the need for an external regulator. 6 psi should be fine. If in doubt talk to SMI.

I like the Carter street pump.
Higher volume/pressure pumps are hard on the camshaft. I've heard of cams wearing out from stiff fuel pumps.
