1969 Nova Bought from Chevrolet dealership Arroyo Grande, CA Car has been through just 3 owners. Ive had the car for about 18 years bought when I was 14 .

Time for a full rebuild. 360 Chevy , 10 bolt rear end Dutchman axles. Upgraded from drums to New wilwood disc Brakes . Upgraded to power steering , going with a Hydro boost unit. I want A/c but will wait until I get the car back on the road. Had to rebuild firewall, just a few spots that we had to replace metal on the body. Cut out a few sections of flooring . Th-350 I will upgrade if the transmission ever goes out. Same with rear end, but I’ve had great luck with this rear end so far.

Off to Body/paint. Dropped the car off last week hoping for 1-2 Months total. After taking the last year to screw around in my garage and save up the $DOE to get the nova to a real auto body shop. paint jobs are double what I had originally expected, and I realize I don't have the space or proper equipment to do the paint myself. I'm saving up / researching for the new wheels/tires to get the car more of a pro tour/ driver operation. I'm stuck on Weld RTS-70's at the moment. 17's , go with a 9/ 9.5 in rear and not sure yet for the front, possibly a 7 or 7-1/2. tires are also a hard decision do we go Toyo R888R, BFG Rivals , mickey Thompson's. or other.

I had this problem too. When you take photos with it turn it so the home button (or bottom of the phone if you have a newer one) is in the 3 o'clock position.

Looks like your running manual brakes. What size bore master cylinder are you running? I’m looking to make a change to manual brakes and remove the hydroboost.

Bobbywracing
04-25-2020, 08:18 PM
The 7/8 bore , just fired up the car, brakes are very sensitive hahah. Pretty close to the newer Gm hydrostops. I’m wondering how the brakes would perform without the hydro boost but I’ll force my foot to adapt.

Sounds good. You sure are making quick progress. My brakes are also very sensitive I don’t mind it but I seem to be having an issue with the rear brakes at low speed. Almost seems like the rears will lock up if I give mild push on the brake pedal. No sure yet what the issue may be. I’m thinking it may be the hydroboost. I decreased the pressure on the portioning valve all the way down and still have the same issue.

Now it’s time for more gears, I have 3.73 gears with the Th-350 . I am considering gear vendors overdrive , i know swapping to a 5 speed manual would be fun , any ideas ? I’m really open to anything , I know it’s a bummer to be cutting up my floor , I was planning on being at car shows but no car shows This year due to Corona. And didn’t know if I needed to be spending anymore $.

I just looked back and realized you did this build in slightly over a year.
With what looks like a new born.
Go ahead and do the 5 speed. You’ll probably be done by lunch.

That looks great. Almost wish I saw that before I installed mine. Although, I need to recover mine with the suede to match my headliner.

Cut the 3-1/4 in hole in the tank , safely filled up with water after cleaning and purged. Should do the trick. Tried the carbide cut, ended up having to use the cutting wheel to finish the hole.

Fuel update.
Stealth did not fire up, looks like tons of fuel is injected , flooding out the engine while cranking, I’m re routing lines in case radio frequency interruption/ emi. All sensors are a go , just has only cranked and not fired for more than 5 seconds and shuts down. I haven’t seen any change in the AFR gauge as I see ‘Inti’ while cranking. May be a bad o2 sensor. And will look into lowering fuel rates.

I need to check spark in all plugs I tested #1/2 wires. And I can’t really check timing until idle. I attempted while cranking and it’s not good.

Make sure your distributor rotor is phased correctly.

Are you using the spark control, if so the ecu seems to be even more sensitive to rfi /emi. If you think this is the case, you can try running a ground wire from the holley unit to you chassis, and you could also try sheilding your dustributor with some tinfoil (not the best looking, but may help you troubleshoot).

Bobbywracing
06-30-2021, 02:20 PM
Thank You for the info, yes I had to many elements of RFi . The only thing that I didn’t change/ trouble shoot was my alternator .
I ditched the Hyperspark and went back to a MSD pro billet / 6al box. Fired right up after I adjusted timing a little. 190049

Time for rigging & re routing wires . I pulled my harness apart many times troubleshooting, will be cleaned up soon so I can start putting miles back on the car.
