If you know the approximate length there are numerous online calculators to determine critical speed based on material. Lighter is better. If budget is not a factor, consider carbon fiber. If driveline angles are an issue, consider a CV driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop.

Carbon would be out of my price range . Looking at the strange 3” chromoly with there billet ends and slip yoke . Looks like a nice peace all tig welded at $550. Talked to 2 local shops and one was around $450 for a 3” mild steel and the other was $500 for a 3 1/2 mild steel and 600 for aluminum. All so close in price just confused .

I suspect the aluminum shaft will be 4" diameter. I'd check to see if you have any clearance issues in the rear with mufflers etc.

You may need a 3.5” to match the yoke for that 6speed. I have a big sonnax yoke for my T56 and my DS guy needed to make a 3.5” steel shaft to make it work properly with the Front U joint.
No issue with exhaust or tunnel clearance.
520hp / 510ft lbs 406 in my case

Basically the same setup except 68. I'm running the Strange 3" chromoly shaft with 1350 U-joints and a billet Strange slip yoke. I think you would have potential clearance issues with a 3.5" or larger diameter ds. I ordered my ds through Summit. The Strange is a very nice shaft for the money.

Late to the game, but same combo on a 70 Camaro. I have a 3.5” aluminum from Inland Empire, 1350 joints and I use a sonnax slip yoke. I almost got the Strange Chromoly, but the weight savings, aluminum absorbs harmonics and the corrosion resistance made me go aluminum.
