View Full Version : Shock Relocation for Leaf Springs and Mini tub - 1969 Camaro
I'm in the process of installing leaf springs in my 1969 Camaro that has mini tubs. I purchased the car as a project and didn't realize that the original shock mounts were cut out in order to install the tubs. My question is can somebody recommend a shock relocation kit that will work for this setup? I'm looking for something as close as possible to bolt on and doesn't require welding.

This option requires welding, but installation is very simple.

Why not go with coil overs?
Why not go with coil overs?
Because I already had that leaf springs before I realized the shock issue.
I am probably going with the SmithCraft. Thanks guys!

I first tried the POL relocation kit, https://www.performanceonline.com/1967-69-Chevy-Camaro-Pontiac-Firebird-Shock-Relocation-Kit-Rear/, as it looked like a complete bolt in. I couldn't get it to fit even with help from their tech support. I went with the smithracecraft even though you have to weld it in https://smithracecraft.com/product-c...relocation-kit

I'm curious about how you guys that converted from staggered to regular shock setups like the end result. Any issues with wheel hop or handling in corners? What leaf springs, shocks are you using and do you have subframe connectors or rear sway bars or a panhard bar installed?
I've got a Right Stuff rear disc setup I hope to install soon when I get my new rear axle setup. Would like to mount the brakes so the calipers are in the same spot and the bleeders are in a good position.
Pictures would be awesome.-Mike

I know it's an old thread, but I am going down this road too and had the same question. Any issues with wheel hop?
