Chopped and dropped gmc syclone?

OK so I have been on a truck kick lately and am toying around with getting a 67 C10 and want to put my own spin on it like everyone else when I got to thinking.

I had a GMC Typhoon in 92 brand new off the lot. It was hot and fast and still could get me through the snow but the faster truck was always the Syclone! I know it may be sacrilege but has anyone ever thought of chopping the top on a SYCLONE? Always loved the look but always felt the cab is too tall just like all of the other small pickups. Love the look but cant seem to find one that is chopped to take a look. OWNERS have done everything under the moon to these and MAN to they fly!

Any photo shop experts want to take a crack at it so we can all see?

I worked at the GMC Truck headquarters when these trucks were introduced. They were awesome performers. I have always liked them.

Personally, I would not chop a virgin Syclone, but would buy a short box 4X4 Sonoma and add the AWD transfer case from a Jimmy or Safari van (Blazer, Astro or Bravada) and lower it. Then it would be no issue to cut and modify all day long. It would be less expensive too.

Just my two cents.

However, I would love to see more Syclones out there competing with the full size pickups. I think they would be killer. I'm eager to hear what you decide to do.

Im with Bill on this. I wouldnt chop up a Syclone unless you found one that had wasnted away and was headed to the junk yard. For the money like Bill said you could buy stock truck and convert over and save money.

3rd the idea of keeping original alone. As Bill mentioned, the AWD system is available on other similar models. Take a pedestrian model. add a body kit, couple with a 4.8/5.3 turbo and some better brakes (could probably find something even better than the original Syclones), and you'd have a hell of a setup, with less $$$ into it than a stock original.

Plus the value of originals have started to go up again, so they're gaining (if untouched). Your choice, but would you really want to spend money and time de-valuing something? Especially when you could make a better version for less?

Why not get the 67 c10 body and swap it on to a 03ish silverado SS frame. Then you have the looks of a classic, the suspension, brakes and drivetrain everyone swaps in anyway. Add a turbo to make the C10 fly.
