is there any simmilarities between the 6.0 and smaller engines and the 8.1 like can we use parts on the 8.1 that were made for the 5.7??

I know that parts on the 5.3 5.7 6.0 will interchange as far as the 4.8 and 8.1 I have no idea but I would assume that they would :dunno:

I'm pretty sure the parts on the 4.8 and 8.1 will not interchange, but I may be wrong? As Travis said, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 are mostly all interchangeable.

some parts will interchange with the 4.8 also, its the same block as the 5.3 with different stroke.all the timing covers, valve covers, rear covers intakes and oil pans will interchange, the waterpumps are different because of the top inlet from truck 4.8 and 5.3 to ls1 5.7's.

so by that I could use pratically any part made for the 5.7 on the 8.1 such as the Fast LSX intake manifold

yeah the 8.1 is different like he said only the 4.8,5.3,5.7 and 6.0 will interchange most parts not all.

I know it is a big block, it is a gen 3 like the ls1 variety or is it a just different enough it being a big block so the intake manifold and stuff like that won't interchange

Heres a 8.1 looking at it you can tell nothing looks the same as a lsx type motor.I doubt the intake will swap over.

thanks nitrovette it appears to me that the 8.1L is a gen 2 big block, so it appears the 8.1 and 6.0 are two totally different engines
