Getting prepared to do the swap in my Firebird and wanted to see if there was any interest in the current engine. Complete from carb to oil pan. From what the previous owner told me, there isn't much run time on this one at all (supposedly 2k miles). However, I can't vouch for that. It's ran great for me the whole time, I just don't want it sitting in the garage during/after the swap. The only thing I don't like about it is the awful paint scheme someone thought looked cool at one point... :)

I also have another stock bore 400 block and other engine parts I'd be open to parting with as well.

Let me know if you're interested!

Is the Firebird different from the 79 Trans-Am you have listed below? If so, what year is it from? I keep thinking it'd be nice to find a block drilled for 4 bolt mains, rather than to build up my #'s matching one (67 GTO). If if IS from the 79, please consider keeping it. Many of us Pontiac fans are snobs, and the 79's with an actual Pontiac engine (assume 4-speeds, as the autos had Old 403's) are pretty rare. Will give you broader market reach for if/when you sell.

FYI-the '79 Pontiac 400 block was stamped XX, and were the old style thick web blocks, not the thin web 557 blocks nobody wants. More $$ if good block...

Any info on block and heads casting codes, that's a must.
Any ideas on internals?

The one in the car isn't the one that was original to the car sadly. This one is from a '75 from what I'm gathering.

The one in the car right now is the 500557 unfortunately. The extra block I have is the 568557. Nothing super rare here but I do believe the better of the two is the bare block. I'll have to check the date codes.

Not a clue on internals. The only thing I know about them is that they don't make any strange noises and the car does perfectly fine when I'm out in it! It's not a powerhouse by any means but I would consider it reliable for sure.
