Finally got the wheel/tire combo for my 66 Buick Special. Did some "creative" wheel lip massaging but I managed an 18x9 with a 275/40 under the rears. Southside lowers, BMR adjustable uppers and a good sway bar should keep it steady. Also started tearing down the front for the arms, springs, etc. The lower control arm brackets are slightly "squeezed" in from years of driving so I have to spread them for the new arms to fit. Allthread to the rescue!!

Looks like a nice project, love the 66 Skylarks.
What wheels are those, do you happen to know the backspacing?
I'm working on the rear wheels and spacing on mine currently.

the wheels are Bandit's and the rears are 18x9 with a 5.25" backspacing. The tires are 275/40's and with the lips rolled I have probably 3/4" or more of total clearance. Should be fine with my new arms and suspension. I'll need it when I go lower on the springs or bags.

Got a front back in today. New uppers and lowers, adjustable sway bar links and shocks. Glad it’s heading forward.

Got it back on the ground for the first time in a few weeks to check clearances after doing the arms and springs. Love the little bit of take it has and it will have a tad more after an alignment due to the positive camber(no shims) in the front end. I’m really starting to like this old car!

OMG, love this car. Attached is a Pic of my '66 Buick Special from back in the early 90's
This was the original lacquer paint that I spent hours polishing. Car originally had a V6/3-speed manual, I put a 350 in it from a '71 GS with an automatic.
Swap meet wheels/tires and misc other swap meet bits like the hood scoop. Built with little money and even less skill way back in the old days.

Pretty sure it will be a 5.3 combo of some sort. I just happen to have a 76mm Garrett that a buddy of mine gave me from his race program(he stepped up to 88’s) and a 5.3 will make a solid 600+ on 13 pounds with a really mild cam. That’s more than I’ll ever need.........I mean, “technically” this started as a car for my wife.......lol
