Hey guys can anyone suggest a nice looking power window switch that does not use a BCM? I bought one for a VW Golf but testing continuity it’s not a simple switch and directs the BCM to control windows. Thanks!

If the switch is just a simple low power signal switch why not run it through a window control module like the 535T from Directed? I use those all the time since all they require is either a positive or negative pulse. Module runs about $55.

Sorry I meant to add power side mirrors up down left right operation.

Maybe look into some stuff from BMW e46/e39/e38? That would be the "newest" car I can think of that might still have analog controls for that kind of stuff. It will likely be low current though, and need a simple control module like Alex suggested.

I just had a 2014 Nissan Frontier apart, it had a pretty nice stand alone mirror switch, 10 wire connection. I would say a most cars by 2000 had a bcm of sorts. But in that time period, the bcm did not control ALL of the body electronics like most cars today. (a blanket statement with obvious exclusions) a lot of switches in modern cars are useable, just as low current. It's the switch panels (multiple switches or controls on one plug) that are likely sending CAN signals to a BCM that would be more difficult to use. I'll take note when I can of other cars I have apart that have potential for implementing switches

I bought a VW switch only based on looks and it was like $4. In trying to find which wire does what I found that it worked on resistance. So if you want up it produced a resistance of .5. If you want down it produced resistance of .3. All the movement was controlled via 2 wires so even if I took the resistors out I wouldn’t be able to use the switch. This is the switch for anyone else. It can’t be used in our applications:

I’m thinking to try to use this one. It was on a lot of cars starting in the mid 90s. Anyone have any experience with them or maybe someone has the ability to pull up the wiring diagram?

Whoever wants to have power side mirrors I have figured this out. You can use the switch from 00-07 Ford Focus in conjunction with power side mirrors that have 1 wire for up/down movement and 1 wire for left/right movement. The mirrors I’m using are from a 13-15 Lexus ES. They also have turn signal, puddle light, and defrost. I’m using them on a 69 Camaro the fit to the body is excellent. They will require some trimming to the mounting bracket. Please see my thread for fitment.
This is how to control the mirrors portion:
Connections on switch:
Pin 7 connects to driver side mirror red wire
Pin 1 connects to driver side mirror white wire
Pin 3 connects to driver and passenger side mirror black wire
Pin 2 connects to passenger side mirror white wire
Pin 5 connects to passenger side mirror red wire
Pin 6 connects to 12v power
Pin 4 connects to ground
On the side mirrors the other wires are:
Pink wire turn signal +
Black/red wire turn signal -
Yellow puddle light
Brown defrost
