New to the pro touring seen but have been build race cars for many years a lot of drag radial cars and prostreet stuff. My question is if building a pro touring car let's say a 1970 camaro does it a make a big difference in resale value if you use a RS car or a Z28 versus a mint condition V6 body. Thanks

Personally, I think you would do much better starting with a mint straight 6 (not V6...LOL) body.

Pouring $100K in a 1969 Camaro will have more value than dumping the same $100K in a Nova. The value in say a 1970 Z28 camaro is the originality of the cars options. When you rip out the suspension, do a modern drive-train upgrade, custom interior etc. it makes no difference (its "Z28" appeal is gone). On a PT car, the RS front end or the standard is purely preference (I like the std front end), but it seems the RS front end is the more popular look. A mint car to start out is worth any extra money the car could cost. Rusted floors, dented body panels, crushed tail panels is just more time and money. Start out with a solid platform. I honestly think part selection matters too...Anytime I see a $100K car, I'm expecting to see wheel tubs, 4-link, LS etc.
This is my base model camaro...can't tell its a base model 307 car lol..

This is what I really like about the P-T world, it doesn't matter what the car was born as, it just matters what the end product is. That said, it's best to just start with a non-Z/SS car because that value will not carry though to the end. By making it a P-T car, you're removing what made the car original and the value it had. That means you can start with a much cheaper platform. Go as base as you can, aside from RS or not... since that's an appearance package, get what you prefer. It's also not super expensive to change a base car to an RS.

Start with a base car so that there is more money for upgrades. In the end, the value of the car will be reflected in the quality of parts used and the quality of the restoration. From my time in the speciality vehicle auction business, I can tell you that buyers are smarter than sellers think. They key on top brand names as well as features like fuel injection, overdrive, disc brakes, zero rust, ground-up restoration... These terms are typically more important than trim levels.
Thanks

Exactly why I’m so concerned about using a Detroit Speed Roll Bar and it being installed properly. That little stuff matters!

Definitely start with the base car with a clean body. The car will be modified so much that the original optional equipment and trim will be lost in the build.
In a $100k build, a few thousand in the initial value will wash out in the end.
I would go for the Z/28 or RS if I were to restore one though, but never to cut one up.

What is DTS?
I would consider Chassis Works, Detroit Speed, Speed Tech...

You have to stick to the most desirable cars .... Personally I would only touch the following if your going to do this and sell them .... 1967 - 69 Camaro's, 1958-66 corvettes, 1965-68 Mustang fastbacks, possibly the right Couda's and Chargers but these are out of my comfort zone. And no, at this level nobody cares if its an RS or a Z28 etc .... it no longer matters
Cheers
Steve
