I just picked up a well built 1971 Camaro. Many elements are already in the pro-touring vein - hotchkis suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, classic style seats with some decent lateral support, killer 406 old school hot rod SBC motor, 17" wheels with 255/295 tires. It's a great start for my build!

Car was built about 10 years ago and featured in CHP in April 2010 - not much has changed since then, it's gone to 2 owners since the original builder and hasn't seen many miles. I'm guessing 5K miles or so during that time-frame.

Motor is very strong - makes 500hp/500tq and has power all over the place - really fat power curve and pulls very hard from 3-6K.

Current transmission is a full manual TH350 with a 3200 stall converter.

Upgrade path is a 3 phase approach and will be done over several years - hoping to finish stage 1 in 2019.

Phase 1
upgrade exhaust to Pypes X-pipe 2.5" with DynoMax mufflers to replace obnoxious Flowmaster 40 series
add GM type 2 power steering (has manual now) and rebuild steering components and ball joints
add power brakes, upgrade fronts to Wildwood
add hyd roller cam (current cam is a larger flat tappet hyd - latest cam profiles are much better)
DSE tubular A arms
Tremec T56 Magnum

Phase 2
DSE quadralink and 9" rear end
wildwood rear brakes

phase 3
update heads to AFR or Dart Pro-1 (current heads are TFS) - maybe re-cam it
EFI conversion
upgrade seats to Sparco or similar
DSE front coil-overs

I am in the SF Bay Area - Northern CA.

Looking forward to contributing to this forum. I will start a build thread once I get started on the exhaust system - first order of business, parts expected this Friday!! Woo Hoo!!
