Welcome what part of Jersey you from? I’m in Morganville. It’s nice to have people on the east coast who are interested in pro touring cars not just stock trailer queens

I'm in Monroe Township. 10 minutes from E-town. Was my home away from home. Just trying to build something that will be a better driver than previous builds. Not a track car but something that will run , stop and steer a little more like my 5th gen Supercharged Camaro.

I have a 65 Chevelle that I'm working on. Not all out pro-touring but I do have UMI suspension all the way around, 4 wheel disc, 9" rear, etc.157330

Thanks. It's a work in progress, paint is a 20 footer, under carriage is done along with suspension and drivetrain. Paint, body and wiring will get done next winter.

Yay more Jersey guys. I'm in Somerville. LSA upgrade is my winter project so I might need your guidance on the right parts.

Cheveezy that's a nice looking 65.

Agree thats a slick 65.
67 Camaro with an LS2. Planning todo LS3 heasds and CTS-V blower.. That's the expected plan right now but I still need to assemble parts.
Terry (coverman66) youtube channel has been my inspiration. Made great power . he did his in a 71 malibu I think.
I don't go to somerville with the car very often. Was there once this summer. It is a great night when the weather is good, lot of cars.

Doug my plan was to get an LS3 and add the blower. i decided to sell 2 of my cts-v blowers i had in stock and just buy the LSA motor instead. By the time i bought the lid, injectors, rails, tune etc. it just seemed easier to buy the complete package.
And yes i've seen that guy Terry on youtube. He's awesome. Cracks me up watching him.

Using an LSA engine is a smart move. It has many improvements over a standard LS3.

Agree. Having the Ls2, fully wired, running, and driving is what's stopping me from buying a LSA crate motor and dropping it in. Maybe Ill rethink my plan. Anyway good to see group of local guys all working on similar projects.

This 71 Chevelle convertible I'm building has been on the back burner for too long. I actually bought it from a friend in 2000. It sat around for a few years and then I put full quarters, wheelhouses, doors and all new front end sheetmetal on it in 2005. Then I got tied up with other projects and it sat in the garage untill last year. I put a full floor and trunk in it and then got tied up with other cars again. Lol. So now with all other projects out of the way I figured it was the right time to finish building it. And I'm not building another big block non overdrive musclecar this time. Also having a 2010 Camaro with a Maggie on it started the whole LS swap thing. So now I'm committed as my motor is ordered and should be shipped tomorrow. Should get interesting..

Well my engine, trans, clutch and bellhousing kit, and harness package showed up today. Didn't think I'd get it until next week. So now I need to get my mounts and oil pan ordered to mock this thing up. So what's the easiest way to post pics on this sight?

Easiest way is click” go advanced” instead of “post quick reply” then Click the paper clip icon. A new screen will open where you can upload the pics and attach them

LSA power!! You doing any upgrades to the LSA? I have a 13 ZL1 has sooo much power. You will love it

No plans for upgrades this time It will get long tubes though. Probably the Hooker ones. I think it should be good with the manual trans. We will see. My 2010 Camaro has a Maggie with a smaller pulley and headers but it’s an auto. So it’s just different.

What are you doing for fuel control?
Volks
10-16-2018, 06:53 PM
I bought an Aeromotive fuel tank a few years ago from someone that bailed on their project. It's a new tank with the 340 pump inside. It also came with a filter, a bunch of fittings and a regulator. I think I paid $500 for all of it. Just need -6 braided hose. I think I should be able to mount the regulator on the firewall, run the supply and return line and add the vacuum/boost hose to the regulator. Well I think that's the plan.

So this is the GM AC kit 19244106 installed. Looks like it fits nice and tight. Uses no tensioner, just a stretch belt. And just a heads up if anyone buys the GM PS/Alt kit 19368947 buy it from a local dealer so you can open the box and check your parts. I got mine from Jegs. It came in a large box from GM with a loose alternator inside among other parts. :pat: 157717157718157719

Your using a GM AC compressor? How are you going to make that work? All the aftermarket ac units use sander style compressors
Volks
10-23-2018, 09:45 AM
Vintage air says as long as it’s a fixed compressor it will work. Just have to buy the kit without the compressor. $1185 I was told.

Thanks Chris. That's a hell of a project you got going on over there. Very cool. I did a frame off 68 a few years ago. 327 4speed stock...=boring. Sold it quickly. Lol Vettes are a little different. And it looks like you probably know every inch of that car. I'll stick with my Camaro's and Chevelle's.

Since this has developed to a build thread you may want to move it over to the project update page or start a new thread there.
Volks

Yep Joeko I was kinda thinking that too. Didn't really think I was going to start a build thread when I joined but as I'm going I'd like to document some things to hopefully help the next guy. Also a lot of cars have been built 5 or 10 years ago and it seems there is always new parts coming out. Lots of good info on here from people that been there done that.
