I was disassembling my calipers for powder coating and and found that the threads on one of my bleeder holes is stripped. Can anyone recommend a reliable repair method or someone that fixes this? Would like to get is done before PC in case its intrusive.

Thanks156345

Chris,
I did a quick Google search and found a couple of viable options in repair kits, you should be able to get them at a local parts store. Not sure exactly on your caliper size bleeder but I seen they offer some for motorcycles too which are fairly small if you needed a small one.
Good luck

Thanks, I found a couple of options after I posted this last night. I'm going to hit the auto parts store today. I want to have this resolve so I can drop the calipers this week.

Personally, I would hit up autozone for new caliper instead.

I’m going to helicoil it. It ordered a kit last night.

Yes a properly installed heli coil or drill and tap to a larger bleeder size should do the job for you, worse case you will need to buy a new caliper .

Personally I don’t see fixing it is as cost effective nor for someone like me....it will always bug me the caliper isn’t perfect and has a different size bleeder in it. Especially if I was investing money into them such as PC.

They are not expensive at the Zone.

The calipers they sell are the J55 pkg, the z06 is j56. I had looked there before I thought of repairing.

Yes ... 10 mm is a sliver larger than 3/8 ... btw to convert take the measurement and multiply or divide by 25.4 .... .375x25.4 =9.525 mm

Make sure not to drill and tap too deep. Remember, the bottom of the cavity is tapered so the bleeder screw ( which is also tapered ) will seal. Don't drill it till its flat .

I plan on marking the drill bit and the tap so I know exactly how deep I'm going in during the process. I'll take my time in the best effort not to ruin the caliper.

Worse case you can tap for NPT and use a Wilwood bleeder as it has both pieces.

I popped a heli coil in over the weekend, calipers are at the coater now.
