The LS3 480 is finally in. Just got it back from the tuner. Car put down 442/408. Running better than the Stock tune.
Finally was able to open it up today. Ran it to 6200 in first and second (it screams!) and the check engine light came on. Car seems to be running good though, I’m wondering what code it put up and why.
Can anyone recommend a good/cheap scan tool? There’s a bunch on Amazon starting around $40.
I’m new to the LS world. Any tips on using the tool?
Thanks!

Any scan tool will give you the basic functions for codes. I would look
To harbor freight. I honestly would buy a HP tuners.

Try the cheapie ELM327 dongles on ebay. I use the Wifi version with my iphone and ipad and if you just need to scan things and clear codes, these are the way to go. Don't pay more than $20 for one. The difference is in the software. I use Dash Command and cost was $10 through the Apple store. I think Autometer bought it from Palmer Performance, who makes the software. It's worked great on all my cars, including my LS3 swap in my 65 Chevelle. The database only shows cars up to 2014 but you can manually enter newer cars. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Or you could pay Autometer $150 direct for the same thing. :seizure:

The Torque app also works well. It connected to my GMPP ECU in my GTO.

Thanks for the input. I just ordered the Veepeak Mini and I’m going to get the OBD Fusion app.
I took the car to O’Reillys and they scanned it. Code P0507 came up “Idle Air Control System, Revolutions per minute higher than expected”. I’m going to inspect the intake / TB area for any leaks. Has anyone dealt with this one before?

Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak.
