Guys please advice.

Why I am having bubbles in my ats/petersen dry dump tank after 10 minute drive. Engine temps are okay and suddenly oil temp begun rising over 200. Then I can I can see oil pressude dropping. When look at the tann there is a lot of air bubbles in the oil.

My tank is from botton to top of the fill neck 18” height and 6” diameter. I have ats / petersen breather can. All lines and fittings are earls size 12. Adapeter on the oilpan is GM.

Tank is on right front corner tucked front of the wheel. Botton of the tank is higher than oilpan in fitting

I have there now about 9 quarts of correct oil. When oil has bubbles and I have shout the engine, oil lever is about 3/4 of the tank. After it has cooed down and bubbles are gone, oil lever is about 8” from the bottom of the tank.

what is wrong here?

Hey
I have the same set up as you, except I modified the oil pan and come straight off the oil pump.
What are you doing for PCV, it looks like you arent using the -6 fittings on the breather tank?
The -12 line from the main tank to the breather tank should be straight, or slightly up I think?
The U bend in that line might be full of oil and stopping the engine breathing?

The vent is for the oil tank, not the engine. Fluid displaces air and when the oil level rises and falls pressure is created.

Define bubbles? Like froth bubbles or something else? Oil does get hot....what does the pressure drop to?

The vent line being up, down, curved etc doesn’t matter....it’s just air/vapor not liquid oil. For arguement sake there was oil in the line, the pressure would push it. Those tank will build up quite a bit of pressure if not vented. Does it “pop” when you remove the oil tank cap after running the engine?

Perhaps you should try doing some research before you make claims that are incorrect.

A fuel injected LS engine doesn’t have a breather persay. It has a closed PVC system. LS engine PVC systems don’t use massive -12 hose. The breather is for the tank. Your using a catch can. Is it best to have a dip in the hose? Probably not, vapor over a long period of time could cause some minor puddling. However Air is going through that line. Take a look at tanks construction.

Even yours line to the engine has a dip in it.

Here’s my “breather”, not part of the PVC. Some pointers on how to get that can up hill?

Guys, I think I know what is the problem.
As engine and oil gets hot, oil pressure starts dropping until it goes to zero.
Then I stop the engine and the dry sump tank is about 3/4 full.
Could it be that the oil pump creates a vacuum and causes the hot oil softened intake hose to collapse?

I have earls 12 hoses and fittings. That hose dont look very strong to hold vacuum.

I’m using Russell’s pro classic II, looks just like that. Can you see it collapsing while running?

I am quite sure case in solved. I put aeroflows spiral inside the hose and it kept hose from collapsing.
Oil pressure stayed normal now after oil temp vent to 200. I didnt run engine long, since this spiral was for AN10 and my hose is 12. I did order teflon hose and hose ends. When they come, I let you know more.
