255/40-18 on a 67'?????

Does anyone know if a 255/40-18 on an 8.5 rim will fit on the front of a 67' Firebird? I am trying to get some mock up tires. I was thinking of running a 295/35 -18 in the rear on a 10" or 11" rim. If I need to run a 245 that would be OK I just wanted the front and rear to look balanced. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, that is what I did. I think I have a 5.125 BS on a 8.5x17 rim. There may be some clearance issues with the inner fender. It does not matter to me becaues I plan to modify mine anyway.

will an 18x8, and an 18x9 fit under my 68 camaro ok? They both have 5.5" backspacing i'm fairly sure. I dont wanna get em and find they dont fit.
