throughout my years of auto enthusiasm I have frequented many a message board based on whatever 2 or 4 wheeled machine I fancied at the time... and I must say this forum has so far overwhelmed me with its content and depth of information
My 'project' is a '65 Tempest... my first car, I've owned it for 8 years, it is a base model 2 door post with a factory 3 on the tree, 326, 4 wheel drums, and 3.23 open rear, white with turquoise interior, and very few options. over the years i've rebuilt the suspension, replaced the 3 speed with a 4, 5, and now 6 speed, smoked the 326, blew up a Pontiac 400, tired out a 455, tried fuel injection, added front discs, tall spindles, a-arms, fast steering, bucket seats, 1000 watts of stereo, monster tach, et al. I;ve driven it to 140mph, gotten about 5 tickets for less, driven it across country twice, ran out of gas twice, loaded snowboards in the trunk for backcountry fun, backed it into a pole, hit a kid on a bicycle (his fault), embarrassed many a ford chevy and chrysler, had sex on the hood, gotten it airborne, been chased by the cops, never got stuck in the snow, tried to sell it cause i hated it so much for being a POS, ignored it for newer toys, and am glad it's still here.
currently the car is in absolute pieces on a concrete slab on the side of my house in southern CA. I love this car for everything it is... and is not. It will have a 650hp Pontiac motor w/ Q-jet, 6 speed, 4 wheel discs, 9", big tires, truckarm rear, bright headlights, and quiet as i can get it exhaust. It will be shiny white with turquoise interior and a modest cage and deep bucket seats, no radio, and i'm wondering about keeping the heater, and it will not be a GTO clone.
i;ve been lurking on the site for a while and appreciate all the people here for their skill expertise devotion and creativity when it comes to building their rides. I hope to be the same way.
the other cars around home are an 01 honda F4i, 02 Mazda Protege, an 03 z06 corvette, 01 dodge ram 4x4, and a 1970 Imperial. I;m married and have a 2 month old girl. i'm a licensed pharmacist. and a scorpio. anyway, thanks and have fun.
edit: i should add that the kid on the bicycle was okay, he skinned an elbow and lost a shoe.
