I'm happy to say that just about all of the musclecars at PRI this year were some form of pro-touring. The industry guys love these cars, there were constant crowds around them.

Here are all the photos that I took in the past three days while attending the PRI (Performance Racing Industry) convention in Orlando. There was a TON of LS1 related stuff this year, the industry loves this little GM engine. Even in the machinery section of the show, almost every piece of equipment had LS1 related parts jigged up on them.

Thanks for the pictures Tony, these are the first I have seen.
I did see that chopped 57(insurance company car) last weekend in Daytona.
What are your impressions on the Motion car now that you have seen it?It looks like it has more parts installed since SEMA. (Gas pedal, radiator hose,etc...)
I see in one pictures that it looks like magnacharger has put the throttlebody on the rear now. That would have worked nicely with my application as far as working out the air breather issues.
Thanks again. :icon996:

Interesting stuff.

Anyone jumping on the Solstice in the same way the aftermarket has adopted the Miata?

There was barely any import stuff at PRI. Thats a GOOD thing! No Miata talk, no Solstice stuff either.

Surprising. As big as the Miatas are in auto-x and club racing I would have thought there would be some and that folks would be looking to grab onto that with the Solstice as well.

I love that Wilson Manifolds intake. That thing makes me want to put an LS1 in my car just to get the intake to fit. :)

What kind of car was that W2W turbo engine built for?

This is exactly what I am looking for. SRT8 Hemi in a sleeper Challenger with 18" billet ralleys. This is only the second time I have seen pics of this car, thanks! Thats one of the cleanest engine bays I have seen.

Jim,

Yes, that was the plan. Unfortunately, I didn't get the car done. Engine and interior still to go ...

In fact, I'm thinking that Wegner engine with the black anodized valve covers might have been mine!

Soon. Very soon. Or my head's gonna explode!

There were more CNC ported LSX heads there than anything, if you don't count sprint car suppliers. The international section was pretty small- but I did see a bunch of Chinese guys running around taking pictures and notes. There were a few Japanese engine suppliers there but the dominating theme of the show was SBC, LSX, BBC, other domestic engines, import.

As for the Solstice- there was Bates Racing- they built the 1400hp Ecotec for GM a few years ago. He had a booth specifically for the Ecotec. The PRI show doesn't normally feature guys that specialize in one car. There are a few exceptions- and those are generally the guys with OEM contracts.

I figured I would have seen Tony in the LS1tech shirt, but no dice. I was too busy gabbing about parts & stuff.

Maybe I'm a little late, but does anyone have any info on the 70 Chevelle Convertible. Where I can see some more info on it. Future magazine spread? Love the color also.

:lurk: haha, Don't worry, Dirk; thought she was hot, too.

Thanks for the pics, Tony; it looked like a really cool show. I'm glad to see even more LSX stuff coming out, there were some pretty awesome things there, it seems. I'm going to have to do some research on some of the new LSX stuff, especially the intakes :).

I'm planning to go up there this Friday. I'll check on it for you. I want a set of the black anodized valve covers for mine too!

Are they going to ship it to you when it is done or are you coming to pick it up?

Good question! We haven't talked about that yet. They ship engines all over the country so I'm sure that's an option. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind spending a couple of hours up there chatting with them. There's an engine story coming on the whole deal so some background photos might be useful too.

John , I am interetsed in there front pulley system . I wonder how much it is? They are the only people I know of that offers something along the lines of a compact system , reminds me of a tru-trac or front runner system

parsonsj
12-04-2005, 07:30 PM
Yeah, they do have some nice pulley systems. They use an ATI damper, and their own casting for a water pump (with a Stewart pump element). From there they can use standard racing sprockets/pulleys for everything.

As for pricing, they have some prices on theirwebsite. (http://www.wegnerautomotive.com)They seem to all be individualt components ... no system prices. Give 'em a call at 920-394-3557.
