Some of our user names explain themselves, but a few had me scratching my head. Deadcarnie, Whitefish, Allfaith, and a few others.
If its not a personal question, can you explain what they mean.

Refers to the car I had a few years ago. 69 Camaro with an LT1 from a 93 Z28.
I would like to change my sig to something that won't be dated if I get rid of a particular car, but can't think of anything good.

DarkBuddha
12-04-2005, 04:19 PM
For me, it was a name bestowed upon me during my sub-cultural days when I was in the position of being both under the influence and influencing others. It was apropos to my general demeanor, physical appearance, and philisophical outlook. Subsequently it worked well as a stage name and business name for my less serious musical and recording projects. Now the "dark" connotation is now both a bit appropriate and ironic, but the "buddha" part is definitely spot on (read my sig below), and after 10 years of using the moniker, it's stuck there.
Make sense?

Damn True:
First name is True. When I was a kid, I thought it was Damn cuz my dad was always sayin "Damn True". Then when I got older and started surfing friends would see my pull off something stupid and say, "Damn True...that was sick". Then when I started racing mountain bikes and I'd crash friends would say, "Damn True....can you move your legs?".
Someone told me there was a pro wrestler who's catch phrase was, "Oh it's True. It's Damn True."

It was going to be the license plate on the ride , but
the "Man" wouldn't allow it , for whatever reason.
For obvious reasons my plate has 69 at the end. I had to write 2 letters of explanation and show the DMV proof of my cars vintage before they would allow me to use 69 in a custom plate. Funny thing is, the plates I was replacing already had 69 in it! Bureaucracy is a wonderful thing!!!!
We had T-shirts at our company a few years back which had Bureaucracy spelled wrong 4 times with red lines through them. At the bottom of the shirt it read : Bureaucracy, it's even hard to spell!

NovaPwr
Car is a 72 Nova, license plate is NovaPwr.....always reminds me of the 60's when I was a kid. Left my last Little League game of the season in the summer of 1969 and had to ride past the local bowling lanes parking lot hang out on a Friday evening. Group of older kids all sittin on the hoods of their cars drinkin beers hangin out with some cute girls. Guy wants my bicycle to ride around on ( standard 26"Schwinn with the front tire powered generator light and paperboy dual rear baskets) so I stand by the car with his girl and she sees me looking the car over. New 69 Nova SS!Don't remember if it was a big block or sb car but she says to me when I was leaving as she whipped me a peace sign, "nova power baby". Never forgot that.

406 is the size of the Small Block in the my Monte Carlo. Had to add the 406 cause there is another with Q-ship.
Q-ship is after the WW2 ships that appeared to just normal unarmed ships but when the u-boat came up to them they dropped the sides to expose guns. It also refers to a car the doesn't appear to be as quick as it is, to look just like everyone else and have the power to hammer the competition.

My mom had a 1985 Crown Vic 2dr we bought new. When she was looking for a new car I was angling to get it and do a little project like yours. It was absolutely immaculate with 140k miles except for the engine was starting to knock. Unfortunately my father was driving it while his was in the shop and had an "incident." Would've been a great starting point.

One would expect a moniker on this board to relate to the users ride. My ride, however, is strowed all over my shop. If you're not from the south, you might correct that as strewn. I was raised in East LA (lower Alabama, that is). Down there, strowed is definitely an accurate and understandable description.
I chose a username that I could remember.

Used to have a hydroplane and my old boss called me Hydro.
Changed it to Hidro so i could use online without any trouble getting the name.
I play racing games and go by the same name.

69 Hugger 396

My first car, a 1969 Hugger Orange Camaro SS396. I bought it in 1978 when I was 15 years old and drove it daily through high school. I replaced the body panels and painted it in 1980 and drove it a couple of times since than, the last time being in 1990. I still have it sitting in the garage waiting for some attention. Just one more project first, then I'll redo the Camaro....no really.....
