This is my project. This Ranchero has a long history. It was bought brand new by my Grandfather in 1963 with a 170ci straight-6 and a C4 auto trans. It was “restored” after he passed away. My uncle owned and drove it for years. He was a professional cyclist, and would use it to haul his bikes. The plate says bike truck. I honor him by keeping it. Then one day out of the blue, he gave it to me. The only conditions were that I hot-rodded it and could never sell it, only pass it on to a family member.

I drove it for a couple years and, while working at a shop, agreed to bring it in and build it. I stripped it apart and it sat, and sat, and I moved so it had to get stored. Fast forward 7 years, I got married and bought a house. First thing that moved in was the Ranchero and I started working on it myself. The more I got into it the worse I found the original “restoration” was.

My wife, friends, and family all agreed that we should cut it up and go full crazy. So here we are.

I am currently not the smartest when it comes to computers, so my buddy Phil (check out his Mustang build here (”https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/128672-Project-Grey-Ghost-1988-Mustang-LX-Hatchback”)) is helping me out. I’ve built a 2x3 perimeter frame. Rear suspension is a torque arm with a watts link. Power comes from a Ford inline-4 2.3L Turbo out of an SVO Mustang backed by a T-5 manual trans. Here are a couple of shots of the start of the tear-down.

This is some of the progress I made a while back on the rear end. I cut out all the rusted and not so cool metal. Added some more 2x3 tubing. Added some risers to let me work under the car and keep it level.

I made some room and stands to mock up the wheels and tires at the planned ride height. Running XXR 557 17x9.5’s and 275/40/17 Falken Azenis out back. Front will be a 17x8 with a 235/40/17 Falken Azenis. I’m going to have to make some inner fenders and mini tub it a bit. I’m learning as I go. I needed to mock the wheels and tires up so I could get the rear end figured out. And if anyone’s eye catches it, I moved the rear wheel back a couple inches to keep it looking right in the wheel well.

I got my 8.8 rear end narrowed buy a awesome guy at here in San Diego, Bob Meyer. He has crazy amounts of stories and knowledge. Strange axles, Wilwood brakes and an Eaton Truetrac round out the package.

Yes same guy! In a small world he is a guy I Ride mountain Bikes with, his dad.
He is older for sure and getting slower but stilll aweosme.

Awesome Project! I put an SVO 2.3 and T5 into my 62 four door Falcon. Something about the vibration of that engine and the stiffness of my structure didn't really play well together, and I'm not terribly happy with the result. I've stiffened the chassis a bit (though not quite like you are doing) but I think I'm finished with the Ford 2.3 game. It made gobs of power (350 HP/380Tq before we ran out of fuel pump) but as soon as I get my new garage built, I'm gonna part it out and stuff a 2JZ in there.

Yep, that's me! Moved from Long Beach, CA to Ann Arbor, MI. It's been a busy year. Moved, remodeled a house, and two weeks ago welcomed a baby boy into the family. With all that going on, the Falcon has not had much love. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can get back to her.

At least we have weather. lol...My favorite things about Michigan are the liberal laws regarding modified cars and the fact I don't have to run a front license plate.

Haha too true, I'm not from CA, but my wife is and I always joke that Southern California does not have weather. My car won't make it out this year, maybe next...

Super aweosme congrats on the family stoked for you. We have a 8.5 month old it has changed things and stalled the project a bit. Not going to lie my daughter is the best thing ever.

Hijacker! All good.

It’s going to get a fully built head, boport most likely and a killer bottom end. Needs a good turbo manifold made to fit with how far back the engine is, it right now will have Mega Squirt and a t-5 transmission.

I learned some things. When you have your car super high off the ground to make it so you don’t have to bend over to work on it. It’s nearly impossible to get the engine over the core support. Your neighbors will come out and offer to help because they are worried about all the noise and cussing. The engine had to get moved a bit and and the angle changed after talking with Ron Sutton and Dave Hanson. Thanks to them; there have been many on the road phone calls, text messages, and emails helping order parts and set up the chassis. It was a setback (punny!) for sure but in the name of handling, it was worth it.

So y’all are basically caught up to where I am. I’m working on the watts link and torque arm for Father’s Day weekend. The rear control arms are my own design, the watts consists of a pumpkin mount cast-off from a friend, the rest I’m building. I’m not sure if i will keep the square tube lower links. The Chris Alston’s Chassisworks G-Link Torque Arm will be custom-mounted and adapted to the car. Hope to have that and the rear anti roll bar/rear shock mount area done this weekend. Then I can start on the fuel cell and its area.

Whack part of that cowl for another four inches or so of rearwardness--it'll give you lots more unsociable turbo room (allows low mounting). Battery goes behind passenger in that rust-hole bed area. Weight distribution will be greatly improved. You've probably already welded . . .

I'm jealous of that pristine front bumper!

The engine is about as far back as I would like. It’s in the way of the steering box as it is. I will have to get creative with the engine mounts. The battery will for sure go back in the old rusted out area behind the passenger area. Bummer the rear bumper has a dent. I might be brave and section them in and closer to the car later.

What area have I possibly already welded?

I never addressed the front suspension. 8 years ago I got the Total Control Products front end kit. While the car was in hiding torn apart, the parts where hanging out in my closet waiting for the day they were to be seen again. I got the Wilwood Dyna-Lite front brakes with 12 inch rotors set up and the 1970 Ford forged front spindle set. I’m running VariShock double adjustable coil-overs on all four corners of the car.

I'm not even sure, to be honest, it was on friends Auto X car. the only thing I used is the pumpkin cover and pivot. I could reach out and contact him if need be?

Just curious. I eventually want to go link bars and build a watts, I've been brainstorming on welding braces on the factory steel cover

Its a T3/T4 with a 60 A/R same one everyone used on the imports from my days. But if i can budget later for a better one i will. going to call a favor from a friend and get the manifold made so it will be fancy.

you want to build your own? Looking at your work I’m sure you could. If not I would reach out to Ron and dave at http://www.ronsutton-racetechnology.com/ I’m sure there is something that will work for you. I would do mine a little different if I built my own and i would have had Ron help with it if I had known them at the time. But this will work just fine and I know it will not go anywhere.

its the FTR watts https://www.fullytorquedracing.com/mustang/sn95-watts-link.html. Center section is great, the uprights to the chassis were the weak link in the SN95 application IIRC

Did a little CAD (cardboard aided design) drawing for the shock mounts and some other tabs I needed. Making forward progress. Torque arm mounts and cross member is next.

Crossmember madness!
I started the driveshaft notch, had to make room for driveshaft and torque arm at full bump with a little room for any pinion changes.

Next up, torque arm crossmember. My original idea was to use the same material as the frame. But, after tacking it in, I realized there could be a driveshaft issue. Being a Ranchero, I will have to unbolt the shocks to get the wheels to drop low enough to get them off the extended wheel studs. Looking at the way the 2x3 sat in there, it would hit before the rear end drooped out enough. So, back to the drawing board

Lastly, the shock crossmember was originally going to include the anti roll bar mounts, but I quickly came to realize that there would be a shock and anti roll bar interference issue. So on to plan b for the anti roll bar location.

I think I have one of my grandfather's circle templates in a drawer with his slide rule!

Did not know those were still in use.

I might be the only one. 15 years ago when I was building mini trucks and prepping off-road cars that is what we used. I kind of have fun trying to figure some of this stuff out.

my dad has a drawer full of em (he was a board draftsman for years and years), I might have to scam one or two off of him next time I'm out at his place. I never considered using those templates while building and I like what i'm seeing....

I can't wait till my parts get back from the Plasma Cutter! it will be a great day to get the shocks mounted.

Sorry for the lack of updates, life has once again got super busy. Between the 10 month old kid and trying to stay on track of daily responsibilities, the truck falls on the back burner.

When I started this project, I knew I wanted a torque arm rear suspension. I was fascinated with the idea of the leverage points and how it operated. I went back and forth a couple of times with different ideas and how to do things. But I always came back to the TA. Because I like to make things hard on myself, instead of just buying a bolt-in solution, I ordered the Chassisworks G-link Torque Arm and figured out how to adapt it to my 8.8 rear end.

This is one of the very expensive tabs that I knew wouldn't fit.

This driver side would require a lot more fitment work. The rear end did not get centered when it was narrowed (not a big deal), so I had to add quite a bit of metal to the tab. It took quite a long time. I explored having someone make new ones, but that would have been a wash in cost vs time.

Once I get the passenger side tab fitted, I'll send them out and get them tig welded to the pumpkin with some Super Missile Weld filler rod.

I am waiting on the tabs to be cut for the rear shocks, fingers crossed that they come back this weekend. The plan is to get those mocked up and cycle the rear end. Then I can move forward to the front TA mount and the trans crossmember.

Yeah they have this machined washer to match the tab. That way you can lock the rear end in place and set the pinion angle.

For the record I hate miter cuts and math. Odd I know because I’m building a car and it’s all math. I got a new saw (http://www.evolutionpowertools.com/us/steel/chopsaws/evosaw380/) and wanted to try it out. This is not how I wanted it to go. It must have taken a good 15 Cut’s before the three cuts ended up correct. Oh well inside frame rails coming soon.

Got a Sunday funday in the garage this past weekend. Spend some time getting the inner frame rails mocked up and tacked into place. Lots of hand fitting the pieces and still not super stoked on the fitment.

Learned again that old cars are so far out of square it’s scary. I’m looking at things and stressing out big time. The measurements are pretty damn close. I think .05 degrees is close enough.

They are only tacked because I’m going to add a Transmission and Torque Arm crossmember. I’m going to sleeve the bolts for the Transmission crossmember so it will all come apart at one time.

My understanding is that you try and build something as light as possible, I seam to be adding a lot of metal to the car. It maybe necessary stuff but it’s going to tip the scales on the heavy side for sure.

ahhhh yes I didn't think about it that way. I think the engine weight is an even deal. the cast iron block and head. I had been told they weight about the same.
It will be interesting to corner scale the car and find out where we end up.

I also started working on the crossmember but right as I got some rhythm I had to head back inside to help support the family.

I modified the transmission mount because best I can tell it was for a GM and I’m using a Ford T-5. I ordered it so long ago I figured I’d just modify it.

I made the tab for the crossmember to transmission mount and the side mounting plates. As I previously stated I’ll sleeve the bolt holes in the frame pieces, so the transmission crossmember can be removed for service.

I like how you are building the rear suspension on this with the torque arm. I've thought that was the best way to update an older leaf-spring car, and that Chassisworks stuff sure looks like nice hardware to use for the build. Looking forward to watching this progress.

One big post

As the deadline for a rolling Biketruck approaches, (10/5, the date of the company car show I put on) I have been frantically thrashing away to get stuff completed. I welded in the inner frame rails and the transmission mount. I sleeved the transmission mount with some ⅝ x ⅜ id tubing to not crush the frame. I was floored when the transmission mount bolted right up.

I went ahead and got the Torque Arm mounted as well. I hand-cut the tabs for the TA. That was a little time consuming. I went ahead and welded every inside and outside edge I could. The worst part of welding the crossmember in the car was the outlet I have to use to be close to the car kept popping the circuit breaker. All the other outlets I can weld as much as I like. So my welds are a bit uglier than normal.

I often wake up at about 1am with a thought or idea, most of the time its just anxiety. I woke up the other morning with a great idea to make some gussets out of 2x3 to tie the front inner frame to the original frame. Should be pretty rad and strong as hell, and I will add the same style gussets to a couple other parts of the frame.

So many things here. The one on the arm itself is pointing up. I figured the TA and drive shaft would be accessible from the bottom. But now you're getting the Wheels spinning and thinking i could make an access panel on the side of the transmission tunnel on the passenger side to work on the driveshaft and the TA. Dang thanks!

I figured I would get a little personal today. It’s my daughter Daphne Elisabeth’s birthday today. We have survived one year.

I have set a lot of goals on my project and they all get trumped by this little red head.

It's been over a year since I've actually done any work on my Falcon, but in the past year a lot has changed. I've got a 4 month old ginger boy that takes up all the time now that our house re-model is mostly done, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I got to hear it this past weekend at a show at my friend's shop in New York and it was amazing. His cars always sound great,

As a teenager, there was a couple air bagged ones in San Diego, one built engine with Nitrous. I have always been a van and wagon guy and this fits me perfectly. it rides decent and is way comfortable.

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. I missed some math in two different places making my rear shock design off by a lot.

Back to the drawing board. I was up at 2 am the following morning solving the issue in my head instead of sleeping. It will be different and better. And to be honest I wasn’t really stoked on what I did anyhow. 157038

So that pile of shock mounts shown above, well I am solving my way around my screw up and looking to figure out how much space people have between their rear coilovers and components? Unless I go full trophy truck mode and mount them on my lower links I am tight on space between the Axle housing and the Watts link bars.

2nd Question is Anyone Going to SEMA? And going to the dinner Thursday night that this forum is putting on?

Progress report.

I have been struggling to find the time and motivation to work in the garage lately. I got the torque arm mocked up and welded. If you remember this is a GM TA that I adapted to my application. So I took the 9” style mount and chopped it up to fit my 8.8. I broke my own rule because I have felt rushed (my own fault) and I didn't test fit before final welding. Bit me in the ass, had to cut it apart and remake the center rib.

It's not as clean as I wanted and I can see the issues I have with it, that no one will ever see or complain about. Life of a fabricator!

No better thing to do than ask a bunch of strangers their opinion.

I am insane and having a moment. Something came over me at 1 am, when I should have been sleeping, and now I'm thinking of changing my power plant options. I started doing some rough math trying to weigh the pro’s and con’s, cost/power/time wise. For many reasons, I'm wanting to go to a late model 2.3L EcoBoost and ditch my old school Lima 2.3L. I would like to get to the 3-400hp range. And building the Lima to those specs, I would have that engine pretty stressed.

Currently, I have a mock-up engine, Mega Squirt 2 ECU($1,000), gutted, ported and rotated intake manifold ($330), crank trigger wheel ($285) and distributer delete, upper engine mounts ($300), Tial wastegate and blow off valve ($300) , and a T-5 transmission newly rebuilt 4 years ago sitting on my floor since forever ($400). That's roughly $2,600 in parts.

Future plans would be Bo-Port fully built head and cam set up ($1900), forged rods and pistons ($1,100 or so), machine work ($$$$), oil pan($600), custom turbo manifold to clear shock towers ($800), clutch ($500), flywheel ($$$$), starter ($$$$), and injectors with fuel rail (????). Then, even then, you have all the belt tensioners and gadgets that go on the front of the engine, and I have to get it tuned. That’s over $5k in additional parts. So at least $8k at the end of the day for a high-strung motor at 3-400hp.

Instead, I’m looking at a junkyard 2.3L EcoBoost engine ($2,500), 6-speed manual ($2,000), ECU and Harness ($1,600), and E85 options ($1,400). Roughly $7,500 for a happy 3-400hp motor and a whole additional gear as a bonus. And it’s a cool modern motor with lots of aftermarket support and numerous OEM applications, so getting parts should be a snap.

No, I will NOT do an LS swap. I grew up in a world of dual cams and turbos. I have been building imports since the early 90’s and as much as I love the sound of a V8 and the low-end torque, the sound of a turbo 4 is pleasing to me. Plus I really want to be unique. I can easily go get a 5.0 swap, bolt it in, and go (I have thought of doing this many times). But, to do something different and challenging is pretty cool to me.

I know there is a lot more to the swap then the basic stuff I have rattled off here. I'll have to redo all the mounts and the steering and blah blah blah, but would it be worth it?

So everyone please chime in and tell me I'm crazy.

There's many reasons to do a modern engine swap. The engineering inside is the biggest area of improvement. I have a 347 in one of my hot rods and a 2v 4.6 in one. The 4.6 isn't powerful in stock form but it's smoothness and durability are very good. Before I would spend lots of effort on the old one, I would pursue any real modern option. IMHO. :)

The bracket and stuff looks great; at this point, I'd fear the integrity of the torque arm more than the bracketry. For comparison's sake, I'd check out what Mike Maier (and Craig510) has done with the Maximum Motorsports torque arm on the 8.8 and 9-inch; it's a pretty sturdy and simple setup that many have beaten the snot out of on road and autocross courses (without breakage, I think).

As for that old-school 2.3 (had one in the 1977 Capri POS I took my original drive test in way back when, hated it), you're looking at spending an awful lot for a very heavy engine whose major benefit seems to be fewer moving parts than a 5.0. You could easily sell the components you have on eBay, then move onto something more modern and lighter and more (easily) powerful. While your stance on the LS is clear, think of how easy it is to get 400 horsepower out of one for a similar weight penalty and far less cost (and headaches). I love the LS in my Falcon . . .

From what I've seen, the Ecoboost V6s can be had pretty cheaply, especially if you get one from a truck (much like the truck-sourced Coyote engines, which can be had for $2000.00--another easy and relatively cheap 400 horsepower). The CHP wrecks Exploders all the time, so whole cars can be had for sub-two grand (probably non-turbo, but still 300+ horsepower). On the 300-horse note, I did put a 1997 Exploder 5.0 (distributorless!) in a 1963 Ranchero a couple summers ago, and it worked great, injection and all.

There's always the 2JZ, which can still be had relatively cheaply, and they love boost. On that note, I have to admit that when I first got my Falcon in 2010, I wanted something like the Honda S2000 engine or an SR20 (even considered a 350 Chevy, but wasn't welding at the time), but for the cost (and weight in the Nissan's case), the 5.0 won out. After two of those (sold them--they didn't blow up), it was LS time. I'll shut up now to avoid blathering on about the LS . . .

Use what gets you there, then recalibrate after user experience tells you to do the next thing.

Thanks I know all the merits of a LS, just does not sit well with me. I could easily make that happen as well as the 5.0. Maybe I like the challenge or maybe I do ever want my car to be finished?

FYI If you decide to go the 3.5EB route you will want a 2015 F150 engine or the Ford Create engine according to Ford Racing to use the Ford Control Pack. I have a 2016 Excursion engine with a 2015 engine harness. The engine harness installs on the engine with out issue, it will be a while (I hope late spring)before I am to a point for first start. It looks like I am good shape but I guess I really won't know until I get it running.

That would be the best route to go in sense of power. But I have a lot invested in the front suspension and it’s all still using the shock towers. I’d hate to have to try and sell that and treat over.

That being said I love your build.

As a very good friend told me “I am my toughest critic” after going to SEMA and looking at some amazing Cars and trucks I felt like it was time to cut off the back end of my car and start over. But that same wise friend and others talked me off the ledge, again. I have made some updates and changes to the rear set up. I cycled it and it seems to work well. So, time to start welding it up and putting the rear suspension to bed.

It's hard to see in the picture, but I sleeved the cross member and welded that sleeve to the inside shock tab. I have a long 5” bolt that should make it strong.

The bottom mounts are incorporated into the into the lower link brackets and I was again mindful of things moving under load. I hand-cut that overlay plate to add some stiffness. I also added small gussets on the bottom of the shock tabs to handle any side loads.

I welded this sitting under the car and I couldn't get comfortable. I find that I am very critical about the level of work I do. I follow plenty of builders and welders. I know they are professionals and weld and build for a living. I also am a quality inspector for Turbine Driven Generators and Compressors. So I'm very hard on myself when I know I can do better.

I have been researching EPAS systems. The rabbit hole has been deep, that's for sure. I have come across two choices for me. One is the complete kit from EPAS Performance (https://epasperformance.com/products/1960-63-ford-comet-falcon-ranchero) and the other is the ProStreet system from DCE Motorsports (http://www.dcemotorsport.com/Home/EPAS)

There is not much info on the EPAS Performance kit ($1500) provided their website, in relation to stats and details. I like that it's a complete kit for my car. Cut column and weld. I'd like to know some output torque numbers and stuff like that. Maybe I can't find it because my work blocked their site? Hmmmm.

The customer service from DCE is pretty amazing and they are fast to answer questions. Their Pro Street kit ($1600) is about the same cost for the MGU unit (MGU unit is not a till column. It’s just a motor meant to be installed inline with steering shaft), and they say it would work well for my project. They do recommend the Pro Race unit but that’s ($2900). Too much champagne for my beer budget.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these options? I am wondering if the EPAS Performance kit gets hot on the AutoX track, and if it has enough output to turn the big tires I plan on running.

Any input would be great!

Project Update

I got the nerve up to weld the front mounts for the lower rear links. I felt like I wanted to add some extra weld area and some style, so I spent the morning becoming friendly with the drill press and hole saw. Found my press has a wobble in it. Does anyone repair 1950’s-era Craftsman drill presses?

While I was there, I cleaned up some of the factory welds for the rear suspension mounts. Ford really knows how to make some spot welds. I couldn't cut, drill or Sawzall them. I had to use three 40-grit flapper wheels for my grinder. After that was done, I added some corner gussets for a little strength but also to finish off the frame.

Next on the list is to make some bump stop brackets and install them on the frame and axle. Then I can pull the axle and weld everything up. After that, I can move on to mounting my Agana Metal Products Fuel Cell.

Stay away !!!! look at a borgeson steering box for your setup I have great luck with them on the last 3 mustangs.

and why play with a under dash unit when you have all the room in the world under the hood with that 2.3 and you can run all ford OEM brackets for the PS pump
if you want to see one on a car and see how the feel is I have the 70 MACH1 and the 72 Maverick you can come by and take a look at.

I was looking hard at a EPS system and actually got a chance to drive a few builds with it. The cars I drove I didn't like the lack of on center feel. I have talked to a few that say they have found a solution. I also looked at going with a Toyota MR2 electric power steering pump with the Honda Accord relay box (I have one I will sell) which looks to be a good solution but with the turbo plumbing I am thinking I am going to tight on space. I have settled on a Ford E250 EB Trans Van pump for my power rack and making a mount to fit my application. The Van pump will actually bolt on but hangs too low for the Falcon.

I used a Unisteer (heavy duty) electric power setup in a previous iteration of my Falcon for a couple of years, with very good results. I don't even know if they sell it anymore, but given the prices you've posted, it was a pretty good deal. It was basically a motor, a computer control unit (non-adjustable), and some u-joints. I welded the mounting plate into the firewall (reinforced first), and it kind of existed like part of my steering column. I did several autocrosses and road course track days with the setup (15x8/225-45 square setup), and only had one very minor hiccup in the blazing sun at an autocross (I did autocross passes back to back for 2.5 hours at an Optima event as well, with no problems). On top of the motor, I was using a 1.5:1 quickener, which sped up the crappy Unisteer rack I had at the time. Overall, the setup was crazily complicated, but it worked pretty well.

Many have had very good results with the Prius setup--AndrewB on here is doing one presently on his Cougar. If you have the urge to dig into an '08 Prius (free!), I have one rotting in my yard after my wife crashed it (someone crashed into her, more accurately) a couple months back . . .

So my first question to both the manufacturers I mentioned was that and they both said it just goes back to non assisted steering. I wonder what system they used?

As for the engine bay I’d like to keep all that stuff out of it. Keep it a bit more simple. I think the under dashboard might be a bit busy after the install but I’m also most likely going to do a floor mount pedal assembly.

Again thankful for your response and sharing your experiences with me. This helps a lot.

Thanks for loving my build. It’s consuming me.

So IMHO the EPAS Is good for many reasons.
Way less clutter in the engine compartment.
Less drag on engine.
More high tech.
And super different in our world of building.

Downfalls are under dash space.
Cost(only if you don’t have power steering like me).
Relatively unknown territory.

Everything thing in this world has it good and bad. I like the idea of new stuff and trying to be slightly different than traditional.

From the research I did when I was thinking about EPAS the limiting factor was not having wheel speed sensors or the ability to limit the assist at speeds. Some mentioned having weird steering feel at higher speeds. Who knows but I went with a borgeson box and a krc pump and I am extremely happy with it. The borgeson box is actually a quicker unit as well and makes it feel more sporty. I understand you dont want to use the power steering pump for power reasons but I think it may be worth it as well as bolt in.

Both of the units I’m looking at have ways to set that up. The EPAS Perforance unit has a dail you can controlnthe steering speed and the DCe unit has speed sensors or a dial as well. The other thing is I bought a manual quick steer box and idler and pitmon arms. It would hurt to sell everything and start over again, and adapting the pump to the new engine set up.

I am stoked everyone is giving their input. That’s why I love this forum.

My apologies for the lack of updates. I spent the holiday shut down from work doing honey do’s and modifying my daughters wagon. I lowered it 2 1/4 inches. Came out pretty cool. Need to give it an alignment and make a pad for her to sit on.

Progress has been made!

I got the bump stops made and welded in. Let me tell you, the Swag Offroad Portaband Table (http://www.swagoffroad.com/SWAG-V40-Portaband-Table_p_63.html) and Milwaukee Portable Band Saw is a life-saving combo. I wish I got these earlier. Don't mind the Christmas morning mess on my workbench, but I have to say this is one of the best Christmas presents I have ever received.

After I got the bump stops welded on, I welded all the tabs to the rear end and sent it off to Bob Myers Race Cars to get straightened and to have him “Super Missle Weld” the torque arm tab to the cast axle housing.

I promptly started installing the Strange axles and Wilwood brake kit. In the axle went, and let me say; on the floor by myself, that was a job to do. Once everything was in, I got a little excited and felt that the wheels should go on. Well, there was a learning curve, to say the least! Rancheros are hard to get the wheels on as it is, then set the ride height to your car at 6-⅝’s to really have some fun. The watts link and the rear shocks have to get pulled to get the rear end low enough to slip the wheels on.

As all learning curves, I found the wheels are hub-centric, not lug-centric. The axles and the rotors fit snug and almost flush, so there needs to be a way to remove the cap and get a ring or something to extend the hub so the wheel has something to center itself with. I will sort this out and keep moving on the rear end.

I have the same Swag / Milwaukee combo and I love it. I was ticked that the saw didn't come with a blade. If you don't have one already , I suggest getting a riv-nut tool. Another must have .

I’m constantly watching the value of the cdn $ compared to the US $ as well as being on Amazon looking for deals. A few years ago I picked up a Magnaflow 2 1/2” stainless builders kit for $325 cdn . Summit sells it for $700 US. When ordering from the US , I have to add on a 33% more for exchange. It’s just part of the game.

Does anyone else find themselves daydreaming constantly, mentally planning the next steps down to drill bit sizes?

When I ordered my axles and brakes there was a slight math issue from my guy and the axle builder (no big deal). The register (the part that centers the rotors to the axle) was too big and wouldn't let the wheels sit flush on the rotor.

This created a problem with a great opportunity. My wheels are hub centric and the center bore is 73.1mm. Spending my life in the aftermarket industry, I knew that can cause issues if not centered properly. So I reached out to a friend who has a machine shop in his garage and he went to town and made an amazing pair of parts for me. They center the rotors and have a lip to center the wheel as well.

To answer your question, yes. I'm always thinking about my projects and what the next step should be. Or Ideas that I have and if they are possible to do or not. Then I think about the lack of funds for many of the ideas and get sad. Then I think of more ideas and get happy again. It's a terrible drug lol.

I will not lie the lack of funds has me worried to no end. Turns out the cat is a "rare" bread of cat with good genetics, just crazy like a feral cat.

While working on the car the other day I needed to move my super custom scissor jacks out of the way.

I was laying on my back and I pushed one jack out, then pushed the second. It wobbled then fell back onto my forehead. Now, this caused me to see a few stars and a lot of blood. The cut was small but very deep. I stayed calm and shut down the air compressor and locked the garage before informing my wife of the need to go to the hospital. I drove myself and got a couple of stitches.

I spent a good amount of time calling and emailing all the local yards and turned up no luck. I wanted an engine and transmission that was complete, and I found one but all the way on the east coast. They were still cheaper than the others were before shipping and tax. Plus, they had rad customer service.

That being said and done, this engine is freaking huge! It is going to take some serious planning and thought. I will most likely have to mod the oil pan to clear the rear steering and have to cut some of the shock towers.

I am going to run the Stock ECU from the Ford Control Pack. It comes with the harness, ECU and intercooler. From what I see COBB makes an Access Port for it as well, and it seems to be the hot set up. I will get that part on order in march.

This is something small but means a lot to me. WD-40 has decided to help out with my project and my bike life. Now seriously, who hasn't used WD-40 in their life? I have been using their bike products for quite a while now and love them. They are a local company to me. I don't have any progress to show you guys. I have been getting my ass kicked by mounting my fuel cell. It’s twisted and moved and fought me every step of the way. I've dropped more wrenches and ratchets on my face than I would like to admit. It's pretty close to being in its final crooked resting place. I missed some math somewhere and something is off making the notch in my frame not centered with the filler neck. I spent a whole day trying to get that perfect. Fail!

This fuel cell is not perfect, nor is the mount. But I'm tired of fighting it. So this weekend it will get locked into place. If not, I'm going to cut it apart and throw it into my neighbor's yard.

This fuel cell has been kicking my ass, both figuratively and physically. Between the jack stand hitting my head, dropping tools on my face, things just not working out the way I wanted, and making the most heinous welds I have ever made.

I made this upper structure to stop upward movement and figured I would add some triangles to help with the rear stiffness. Let me tell you, welding while sitting up at a 45-degree angle on top of a tube with a couple of inches for clearance for the gun and blindly welding, this is where weld crimes are committed. Ugliest welds I have ever done.

Some adjustments here and there but it's in. Agana Metal Products fabbed up the cell for me. It has internal baffles and a small sump in the rear. I also tilted it back 1.5 degrees just to try to keep fuel towards the back. The cell is 23 gallons, and before you say it, I know that's a lot but my goal is to run E-85. Because of the engine swap to an EcoBoost 2.3, it will be a bit more of a challenge and will have to wait a bit before I go down that road. I tried to keep the tank low and as far forward as I felt comfortable.

Time to move on to mounting the rear Anti-Roll Bar!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have hit a wall. Between my personal and work life, I’m at a standstill. I say I’m at a standstill figuratively. But in reality, I’m in the garage walking in circles not getting anything done.

I’m not going to lie. I’m really tired of getting my ass kicked by everything I touch. I’d like to not have to design something, maybe just make it a little better or cleaner. I’d like to assemble something. I know this is an ironic statement being I’m building a custom car and hand making all the parts.

I have made a little progress on the rear Anti Roll bar mount and once I get it all welded up I’ll post some pictures. And I have removed the firewall. Once I get all the spot welds cleaned up I’ll share some pictures as well.

Coming from someone who had a kid 9 months ago, hurry up and get as much done as you can! Your life is about to turn into constant madness, in a good way of course (based on your avatar, its seems like you probably already know that). I am just now getting back to working on my Bug and its only from the time I get home, to the time the other half brings the kid home. About a hour and a half a day. At the same time, it has been a nice 9 month break. Like you, I got fed up on working on my Bug, changing everything around 2-3 times, things not fitting how they should... blah blah blah... Point being, having a kid and not thinking about or working on the project was a nice and needed break. Now I am back to it, ready to fight it every step of the way, just limited on the time I get to work on it. Keep on Bike Truckin!

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one. All of your posts have actually made me feel better. There has been so much going on that eats up time and I'm at the point with my project (block sanding primer) where it's really close but I just can't seem to drag my but out and work on it, which is after work, making dinner playing with the kids, mowing and whatever is on my honeydo list (usually 9pm). Support of groups like this is what helps motivate us to actually finish projects. Your build is great, keep at it and try to do one thing a day or week or whatever and that is one step closer to completion. Words I need follow as well. Keep it up man.

To me hot rodding has always been about putting parts together that were never meant to be together. My plan has always been to do something in the shop everyday , of coarse it doesn't always happen. If it's only for half an hour or even a quick clean up so I can at least work without tripping over a hose or whatever. In the winter months , I don't even try to get work done it's to damb cold. So I drive the family crazy by just being with them. They say "don't you have anything to do in the garage" my reply is "it's to cold" lol !. Hell , I've been working on my build for over six years , it's not a race. If you're not enjoying it , take a break and enjoy your family or drive them crazy !.

Feel your pain as well, the last 2 months I have been lucky to get 3 hours of shop time a week. It seems like 1/2 of that is spent adding to my to-do list and or deciding on what to do next.
I sold my race car a couple of months ago and though that the extra space and lack of distraction would be a bonus, still waiting. :-)
A upside is I have had some parts arrive like a Aeromotive Stealth 2 fuel tank.

I spent some time in the garage this week. I’d say I finalized the rear Anti-Roll Bar but really I just pulled the trigger (pun intended) and welded it in.

This is the TCI Mustang sway bar. I had plans to mount it differently, but space and people smarter than me stopped that. Then I realized it was the exact same width as my inside frame rails. I convinced my friend over at Agana Metal Products put it in his bender and make it a bit narrower. I also cut off ⅝” and retapped the end of the bar. It’s not ideal but if it’s not stiff enough I’ll make up for it with the rear springs.

Hey guys im still here. It’s been a wild ride for me and the family around here. We had a little boy, now 6 weeks old, named Fletcher James. He came into the world quickly, they say the second one comes faster. It’s true. Almost had an ambulance baby.

But with that being said, I have been away from my project and my life for that matter. Holding onto relationships is hard right now. And the one relationship that’s suffering is my project. I have not had a moment of time to get into the garage other than to grab a screwdriver to put batteries in a kids toy.

I ordered a shed so I could make some more room in the garage for tools. Maybe once I get that organized I’ll get some motivation to get up at 3am on the weekends to work in the garage.

If you know me, you know i'm a bit OCD. Full Custom Fab (https://squareup.com/store/full-custom-fabrication/item/jack-stand-tower) soothes my soul with their bitchin jack stand holders. I went a step further and had them powdercoated at Swift Powder Coat (https://www.swiftpowdercoatelcajon.com/) in wrinkle black, and swapped out the hardware to stainless steel (I can't leave anything stock). I got the holders for the large jack stands as well, for motivation to get my project on its wheels.

They take up the same floor space as one jack stand, or you can wall mount them. If you wall mount them, the legs can be used as cord holders. They come in bare metal so you can paint or powdercoat them however you want.

I seriously can’t say enough about what a great idea these are and perfectly executed they are. If you order some let them know that you heard it from me.

Every now and then someone does something that totally blows your mind. This is one of those moments.

My friend Danny aka @dfied_designs (https://www.instagram.com/dfied_designs/) did something so amazing for me. He completely modified a Hot Wheels car; including custom paint, 3D printed wheels (exact specs of the wheels I have), proper stance, and even a bicycle in the back. To say I’m blown away would be an understatement.

I have compiled a large collection of parts to make some serious progress on the car but have not been able to touch it due to the kids and life just getting the best of me. But I have some serious motivation now seeing how much effort this good friend put into doing this for me.

Your friend Danny is an awesome guy and that hot wheels is pretty darn cool.

So when my girls where little I had them out in the garage working on the truck "Kinda". I put them inside the pick up bed on blanket with a bunch of toys and it was there giant playpen and they loved it. I even hung a baby swing from the rafters so i could but them in it when they got tired. Every so often I would walk by whomever was in the swing give them a kiss and a push on the swing. Most of the time they would fall asleep which allowed me to stay out longer. I even had the pack and play in the garage.

Still the best baby containment thing was a Giant Pumpkin box also known as a gaylord container and a box of markers and crayons. They girls would be in the box for hours upon hours. Just make sure you have a bunch of blankets in it for them fall asleep on.

Well It had been a while and life has been crazy, to say the least. I had been off work from March through August, watching my kids and losing was what was left of my mind. The first couple months really got to me, but I worked out a little break with my mother-in-law.

I have no clue where I left off, or even where to begin on what's been going on in the project.

I had said before that I was stubborn and wanted to keep the front suspension with the rear steer, I was committed to that. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to make the oil pan work with all that. After a metric **** ton of drama and 1/16th of an inch here and there, I ended up with an Focus ST/RS oil pan and baffle system. Oddly enough, the pan has a weird notch in it that faces the rear on my car. This pan however was not meant to match up to the RWD transmission. So off to a good friend and he welded on some bosses and performed some drilling and tapping. I'm sure it would have been fine without the two bottom bolts.

That's where the fun began. That rad notched area in the oil pan seemed to be a good place to run the crossover for the steering. Oh joy that was fun, not! I wanted to have the engine far back and low. But after looking at the engine in its place it became clear that the notch was perfect and it would be major fab to clear the alternator and the turbo. I figured with the fact the engine only weighs 385 lbs there wouldn't be a huge downside. I know every little bit helps in weight distribution. But I figured it was way better than stock and way better than a stock location V8.

Off I went trying to get the link to swing between that notch. What a mother trucker that was. I got things pretty close but found that the stock tie rod end was way too big. So I got some heims and misalignment spacers. I kept trimming and machining the set up down til it worked. Sweet on paper and in my head it worked, until I added the tube and found the offset was too close to the stock Pitman arm. So back to my friend Jeff’s shop (he builds and preps the Parkhouse Racing winning class one car and prerunners) to eyeball about how much bend I think I would need. I already scraped some of the tubbing. All said and done only had .250 to spare and trim off. But it all seemed to fit.

After getting all that dialed I set off to make the engine and transmission mounts. Minus the lack of space it wasn't that bad. I did spend an ass ton of time trying to get the hardware in and out. What a PITA that is. I had made the plates that go to the block a while ago and they seemed to work out well. I had to trim the bushings down and the sleeves. My lathe sucks so it was all cut by hand and then tried to smooth things out on the lathe.

The transmission crossmember I had started on when I had the other engine. It always kind of pissed me off and fit super snug. So I cut it apart and made it better. One of the goals was to use stock parts to keep it simple and easier to repair. I was going to make a rear mount using a bushing like the engine mounts but I felt it would deflect with the torque and twist of the engine. So I found this cool billet replacement one from Bomba Racing (http://www.boombaracing.com/) and figured I would give it a try. One of the issues of placing the engine so low and far back was the pan and components would hang too low into the path of driveways and stuff (remember the ride height is 6” from rocker to asphalt). So where the transmission mount and the TA mount end up, they hang a bit into no-mans land. That gives me some worries, we shall see what happens. I went with some different ideas to help the TA to driveline angles, and move the CG around. We shall see how that plays out as well being everything and every step of the way is a guess.

I sent the rear end to Bryant over at http://currentautoperformance.com/”]Current (”[url) Auto Performance to be assembled, we go way back to the street racing days in the 90’s here in San Diego. The read end got a little crazy like everything else. It has 31 spline axles, Eaton True-Trac diff, Ford Performance 3.55 gears and capped off with some Wilwood brakes.

While I was writing all this out I got notification that my driveshaft was on its way so I figured it was time to get the Mcleod RST twin disk clutch and hydraulic throw out bearing installed. I'm not one to do some math so ordering the drive shaft and the setting up the throwout bearing was a mind F@#k to say the least. Fingers crossed the throw out bearing is set right and I didn't mess that up when installing.

I had Ralph over at https://wilesdriveshaft.com/”]Wiles (” make the shaft for me. I spoke to a lot of local shops and some of the big names and no one wanted to touch my setup. Really not that hard just not that normal due to the IRS transmission to solid axle swap. We ended up with a 3.5 inch DS with a Sonex adapter and slip joint. Should handle what I throw at it.

When I had parts at powder, I figured I would try and get some stuff done in the back. I wanted to add some bracing and gussets and get the fuel tank mounts sorted out. I added some bracking and plated to the front frame sections to help support any loads I feared. I also added a giant X brace under the bed floor above the cell. I always hated what I had done for the cell before so I remade my horribly over thought crap I made before. I’m very satisfied now. I also added the mounts for the pump and filter. I guess there was a bit of miscommunication and I mounted them a little lower than maybe visually is okay and it might hang down to catch some road debris. The bummer is I had it all powder coated. So if we decide to rework it I have to get it all redone. I was under the impression that it needed to be level with the outlet of the tank. As my 3 year old says, “oh well it's okay we can fix it.” After I get it all mocked up and fixed (if I do) I’ll be adding a simple surge tank and another pump just to keep everything safe and sound.

As always, I got scope creep in the steering too. I was adding the https://epasperformance.com/”]EPAS (”[url) Performance but wasn't going to use a standard steering column so back to fabricating all my own mounts. I wanted to keep the stock angle and didn't want the motor to get loaded and try to move so I made some brackets that come off the back of the motor and connect to the dash in a couple places. I also made the mount for the motor to the dash. I used my press and some scrap metal to bend it up. I hid some hardware inside the main part of the mount. I then used an off road steering column and fit it all together. I wanted to keep it race inspired but also with a finished look, as everyone would see it as they looked in the car. After it's all said and done I'll send the stuff off to Swift to get coated.

My plan was to get this a rolling chassis but as always things get out of control. I have gone back to work for a week and got laid off for another week. All and all I've been off for 6 months. Some have been slightly paid and some have not. I look forward to returning to work but I also want to finish this thing. I have a couple more days so I’m going to try and get the seat mounts made and maybe mounted into the car. Once they are in I can figure out the pedal placement and the final location of the steering wheel.

Nah, it's more of a 21 year long project. Since it's my daily, I tend to just fix it enough to keep it on the road. Also, I use it quite a bit. Lots scruff's and scratches, not like all the nice stuff that gets built on here. It runs a 393 / T5 combo.

Nothing wrong with having a beater. I'm going to be building a nice one, but fully expect it to wear over time as I drive it from here to the cemetery. I not only won't be ticked if I get a dent, I'll be selecting paint designed to hide them. Like, no flat and shiny black which looks amazing until a rock hits the hood after which all you can see is the dent. Kinda thinking a blue-grey metallic, root beer metallic, or that coppery-brown they put on the early 2010ish Ford pickups.

It’s been a while and as you guessed I’ve been on the struggle bus. Things have been damn hard.
There have been some changes and there have been some progress.

I decided I didn’t feel right in the seats in the car. My body is pretty beat up due to living an extreme sports life having lupus and other stuff. So I went and ordered new seats and that led to a rabbit hole. I wanted to make some changes to the seating position and pedal position. That took a month or so of late night changes and analysis to get it sorted out. Still not sure how good it is. But I hope it’s good because both points are fixed.

Part 2 of i haven't given up

After getting that all dialed in I sent it to a guy I know for the exhaust. First mistake in a list of friend mistakes. I have asked a few questions about how to do some things and he let me know he had some time and could knock it out in 3 or 4 days. More like 3 or 4 weeks and not done like I asked or even done. (This is a theme in this post) he tells me it’s ready and I go to pick it up with a tow truck and there are no hangers and it’s made with a round tube( dinged and smashed to clear areas (this why I wanted oval) under the car and I asked for an oval.

I’m like what is this and why? Oh I ran out of time and didn't have the parts cut in time. but I’m set for next weekend to come over and make it happen. Fast forward 3 months he is still planning on coming over.

I said screw it a long time ago and bought some oval and transitions, paid someone to weld up the oval I fitted up and I went ahead and made the craziest most sturdy rigid mounts seen.

Part 3 of I have not given up

I had once seen a car out of Sweden that did everything out of square or rectangle tubing, it’s been stuck in my brain since.

Not that I knew where everything went. I jumped on the chance to brace the holy hell out of the car. The seat frames are made out of .120 wall and everything else is lighter gauge. I then went to town and in typical fashion made some ugly welds and changed my mind a few times.

I came up with some creative ideas for getting a bolt out of the shifter so I can service or replace it. Also to access the drive shaft and transmission

Part 4 of not giving up

I had fought for a long time with adding a surge tank being I had made a giant fuel tank (think over twice the size of a stock tank, and way too big but for long road trips) and my guy over at deeps Garage https://www.instagram.com/deepsgarage/?hl=en had tried many times before to make it happen. What's another gallon of fuel and maybe I need to make a smaller tank? So we made a simple square surge tank with about a gallon of fuel.

Now my favorite part is routing and plumbing lines. With a surge tank came another fuel pump and filter too. Packaging all these things became a little bit of a challenge but I was finally stoked and happy with working on it. I got it all wrapped up and looking pretty cool.

Don't get me wrong I remade mounts a dozen times and redid this and that a few times to get there. Hopefully it works and isn't just way too damn much fuel. Maybe I can get to Arizona and back on a tank212155

Part 5 of not giving up

Now comes the crappy part of the post. I had another “friend” that wanted to do a bunch of work on the project. We had been talking about it for almost 2 years. It was going to get intercooler mounting and plumbing, firewall and wheel wells, radiator mounting and plumbing and a roll cage.

Fast forward 9 months and a few hundred calls and text messages later and nothing was done. I gave him an ultimatum of two days or a full refund of my deposit or a two week timeline for the cage and refund part of my deposit, 3 weeks to do the cage and intercooler/radiator work, or a month to complete everything at the prices we discussed. He chose the cage option.

Timeline was not met( big shock right) but a week later I got a cage not to my specs and not at the price we agreed( he tried to get $600 more) but I had in writing what he was to do. I got my car and bailed. Lost what I thought was a friend (25 years) and a few hundred over the quote.

Keep in mind my car was outside all day and now has all the bare metal covered in surface rust. Its a total nightmare and disappointment. All that work I did now has to get sanded and painted.

Time to move on from that

Part 6 of not giving up

During the wait at the shop it dawned on me that if I put a cage in I'd never be able to replace the glass and the headliner. So I scrambled to get the glass out, I damaged the stainless trim so I had to find a good used set to replace it with. I Got lucky and got a shop to make an “alcantara” headliner. I dyna matted the roof and got it back home. I then found an old timer willing to help me get the glass installed. After getting shorted the trim and a few scheduling conflicts he got started on it. I was out of town visiting my mother in her last days and he agreed that he could get the glass done so I could ship the car back. He refused to let my wife help so we had to wait till I got back.

I got home and promptly had him come over and finish the job.This is where it got wild. We struggled to get the rear installed (all I really needed to cage the car) so we got it installed and the aftermarket seals are pretty lame if you ask me. He is doing a walk around and the dude just straight up passes out and falls into my drill press, jack stands, and brake. Just straight up out cold. I sit him up to make sure he's not bleeding or broken, he comes through and asks what happened.

We get him up and I let him know I'm going to call an ambulance for him. He refuses and is all disoriented. He goes to his truck and I see his legs giving out again. I ran my rolling seat out under him. Tell him I am calling his family and gets upset and convinces himself he's safe to drive. I was pissed and didn't want him crashing and killing someone or himself. He had a friend down the street he wanted to go and rest at his shop, and he left. He called later and told me thanks for looking out for him and he's fine now. Never heard from him again

The car left that “shop” and moved onto another garage and is getting the sheet metal done for the floors, firewall, and the wheel tubs. There is a lot more to it than that. We have added some extra bracing for things in the future, some extra supports for things, changing up the smugglers hatch cover. The guy who’s doing the work travels with a BMW 24 hours team so he’s in and out all the time but progress has been made for sure.

I'm hopeful that things will progress and keep moving forward for me. These last few years have really got me down. I'd like to finish this car and get to drive it. My mom passed this Christmas. My uncle is slowly getting closer to that than thriving. I really wanted to finish it and show them or take them for rides since it was their dads car. Some of those moments have passed and some have not. I'm hopeful I can make it happen soon.

I’m hopeful this part will be finished soon and we will be able to move onto some of the intercooler and radiator mounting/plumbing, wiring, and some other things on the list to finish this car.

Even though it had been a while, I'm glad you followed up because I haven't seen this build before. It's a great backstory, and you're building a really sweet ride one little bit at a time.

I think you and I are alike in that we both feel there is a way it should be, and if it doesn't match the "vision" then it's just not right. It will have to be redone whether it was our own work to begin with or something we relied on others for. Then there is nothing more frustrating that having the exact thing you want in mind, but you need someone else to do it. Then you explain everything, give pictures, sketches, examples or whatever, and they come back with something different than what you asked for. I get irrationally upset when that happens.

You and I even have the same crazy when it comes to radically over spec'd hose clamps as mounts. The only thing I would do is cut down the threads a bit and pop vacuum caps over them :)

I’m stressed cause it getting sheet metal work done that I suck at doing. I’m glad it’s making progress but man I wish it was back home.
Sheet metal / bodywork / paint and automatic transmissions are the only things I refuse to tackle. Transmissions just out of my own ignorance, but paint and body because I have too high of expectations than my skill and patience can come up with.

What are you working on?
I inherited my sister-in-law’s father’s ‘85 IROC project car recently. He had done a lot of work to it (suspension, k member, built SBC, etc.) but it had sat for about 8 or 9 years before I got it. My son and I are going through a first pass on it to get it running and reliable again, then we’ll dig deeper with more fab and mods. But it’s hard not to just tear the thing apart right now because I know that is what will happen one day anyways.

Main tank fills the surge tank and excess returns back to big tank. So no mater what corners or loads there is always one gallon of fuel ready and being used.

I love them I used it in my lowered street truck for 10 years. Used them in drag Hondas. Makes my old beat up body feel okay after driving and even better on long road trips. It sucks up the bumps. And you ante definitely trapped in the seats. They are not easy to get out of.

Well 2024 definitely wasn’t the year, and 2025 sure wasn’t either.

My life has been a mess, big shocker, marriage is holding on by a thread(my fault) my son is struggling. I have not been riding much, or at all.

Top that all off my uncle died. I never finished, never took him for a ride in his car, never even got to show him the progress. 100% I failed. Totally blew it. My family and him will say that’s not true. But to me it is.

A ton of stuff has happened. I can't even Catalog it. I will not lie, it's been so long I lost track. I’ll go back and try and figure it out and make this one giant post.

Bob got a ton of sheet metal work done and a bunch of extras. Bob is like me, he bounced from one thing to another. It has hidden tubes in the firewall, in the fender wells and it’s all tied to the cage under the dash.

I ran out of room for my idea for the oil cooler so it got mounted in the back of the car, that means more oil in the lines and more expensive oil changes.

Like everything else I got a little crazy and ordered a billet aluminum oil pan. All the previous hard work to to clear the pan and steering. Stock style steering will be better.

I don’t know if I showed off the intake manifold either. I waited quite a long time for both to get made. I think the intake I have is the first one sold publicly, it’s serial number 4. I hope it all works as it should because they are beautiful

out here in San Diego and he did the intercooler plumbing and the radiator lines. I wanted to stay with the old school off road style of aluminum hard piped
for the water lines. We added a big bore throttle body as well and a bunch of Vibrant HD clamps.

He also did me a solid and fixed the messed up down pipe that that other guy did. It was way off.

I am grateful for good fab guys. He has good prices and does great work. If you're in SoCal lmk I’ll pass on the information

I realize that I didn’t share the rad work he did on the inside of the fenders. They are connected to the firewall that has a tube hidden in it, that’s connected to the cage and then it also goes to shock towers. The is also an adjustable Monte Carlo style engine bracing as well. 219758
