View Full Version : Do UMI/Ridetech Spindles limit my choice for disc brakes?

Hello,

My original plan was to get 98-02 Firebird/Camaro brakes for my 1970 Skylark. It's cost effective and works great from what I read.
After contacting UMI, they said that I wont be able to do this conversion once I use their Tall Drop Spindle.

So my question is, what are my brake choices once I use the Tall Drop Spindle? (whether its from UMI or Ridetech)
Thank you!

The spindles that we offer are identical to a factory A body disc brake spindle except for the fact that they're taller. You can swap your factory brakes (if you have a disc brake car) directly onto our spindle. There are several options available if you want to go to an aftermarket setup though. Baer and Wilwood both build a kit that will fall right into place on them. If you're trying to stay on a tighter budget, I have seen quite a few guys use the Kore 3 Motorsports brackets on our spindle paired up with the factory replacement C5/C6 brakes.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately my car is equipped with drums, so I can’t use those. But from what I understand, any aftermarket disc brakes will work as long as they fit the standard GM A-Body spindle.

Thank you!
