Hey guys,
recently have bought 1989 Ford Crown Victoria Station Wagon and wondering what are the widest wheel I can put at the back?
I am from Europe and need to wait for two months while this car will come to my places, so need to buy wheels earlier to be ready the car hits my garage.
I know you guys have a lot of experience on those things, so hoping you will help me figure out.
Attaching photo of recent purchase, hope the car will be clean as it was described.
Thanks,
Klaudijus

Cool wagon.
I doubt you will get many responses here because I have never seen a build on one of these wagons. I suggest searching the internet for wheels that have been used on the same year LTDs, non-wagon. Also, you might want to think about the wheel diameter first...

Do you own a Sawzall? Your options can be increased.
I do know my Caprice wagons had a lot of room for tires. I have not worked with the Ford wagons.

I bet you'll be the only one in your neighborhood with one of those!
Unless you can find well documented examples of specific wheels on your specific body style car, I'd caution against ordering wheels (especially if they're coming from the US as well) until you see/measure the car yourself. You don't want to be stuck with wheels that don't work, especially if it'll cost an arm and a leg to ship them back.
My strategy is always get the car at your desired ride height with whatever wheels/tires come on it, then measure how much bigger you can go in each direction. I've been surprised as the clearance issues I've found (especially when turning the wheels full lock or jacking up one rear tire), especially on a car that's been lowered 2-3 inches. Which a big cushy cruiser like yours, you could probably even load up the car to temporarily "lower" it to check for clearance issues.
One example of a similar car - but those back tires look like they'd rub to me: https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/107154-1989-LTD-Crown-Vic
Also post #13 here: https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/92434-Odd-Ball-PTing-cars <== I'm pretty sure those are MB Old School wheels
For what it's worth, I wouldn't assume that the rear wheel well clearance on the wagons is the same as sedans. In my experience with the GM B-body cars, there are differences.

You can download our Wheel Measurement guide at http://bit.ly/2wOFXJx that will help you to determine what will fit. Best of luck

That wagon came with a 15x6.5 wheel, in a 5x114.30 bolt pattern, and a standard offset. If "standard" equates to a 0 offset, you should have a huge selection of wheels to choose from. Those cars have big wheelwells so I bet an 8" width wheel will easily fit, on either end, and probably even wider.
