Great design, less rotating parts, less rotating mass, less friction, less weight...
I always liked the early-80's RX7 with its rotary engine, and I know people who got 300+ hp from them (13B's, 3 rotors I think). Driving in an R100 with that much power was amazing. I knew then that it would do well in my car, but then the LS1 came along. I can't wait to see this in practical road use though, would love to have a small SUV that got 50+ mpg!

Imagine one of these at each wheel linked to a computer to control wheel spin on acceleration and deceleration? Audi Quattro look out!!! With the Quattro tech and the right size wheelwell a car could have a well balanced and roomy cabin that they are believing they are going to get with the fuel cell and electric motors.
It truly could be the future for us all.

bingo. the large interior space in the engine could theoretically be used for some sort of transmission, maybe a CVT, that would even allow each wheel to be at an optimum gear ratio for any given speed, acceleration, and traction condition.
I personally think this is gonna be huge.
