I bought a Strange Engineering 9" Ford differential assembly for the my 65 Mustang restomod. I noticed the center section was leaking diff gear oil. I brought it to a shop to have the leak repaired (2 years ago) and they said the mounting surface on the housing was not flat (they neglected to take photos so Strange said they couldn't help me out). Anyway they used RTV and it stayed sealed for 2 years but after this winter's storage I noticed it was dripping again. Long story short has anyone used the Lubelocker LLR-C900 silicon imprinted gaskets? Will they seal minor imperfections or should I reclean the surface and do the RTV thing again. Any other suggestions would be welcome (within reason, I am not a mechanic or machinist). Thanks

The last Strange housing & third member I bought came with that gasket.
I don't have any reviews on it yet.

The LubeLockers work great but both surfaces must be clean and free of major imperfections. So much easier to take apart if you need to.
Before you pull it apart, make sure it is not leaking though the threads of the studs. A copper crush washer on the lower studs will take care of that.

Thanks, I will look into using copper washers.

I have had the best luck sealing my center section using the Fel-Pro 2302 gasket. You also definitely need copper washers on the center section studs.

Ok, pulled the center section, cleaned RTV off surfaces and hit them with a bit of emery cloth. Used Detroit Diesel Ultra Grey Gasket stuff around each stud and on the gasket surface, added the Fel-Pro gasket. Let it cure for 4 days and refilled it, so far no leaks. Bought the copper washers but didn't use them, if it leaks again will put them on.

Install the copper washers under the nuts. Leaks or no leaks, it's just a good practice.
